I'm curious to know if Coach O can give someone x percentage of a scholarship. For example, if Slade Bolden has 4.0 and is offered x dollar academic scholarship. Wouldn't it be best to offer Slade a smaller .5 scholarship (per se) than a full ride? This is a hypothetical question but makes me wonder if it happens. Thanks!

Football is full scholarship. Baseball can give partial. If you are on scholarship and play football, have to be on a football scholarship (bear Bryant rule)

long story short bear Bryant was exceeding roster limits by getting guys on like "track scholarships" or other bullshite. huge reason why the modern depth charts have their number and scholly limitations

Bama has gotten away with cheating for a long time and it only sounds crazy because we complain about it as LSU fans

For LSU baseball, absolutely how it would be handled. Football isn't allowed to do this.

Bear Bryant would recruit a bunch of guys and stash them on baseball, basketball, track, academic, etc scholarships to still stay under the 85 football limit but would have unlimited number of actual scholarship guys.

Do student athletes at LSU get to pocket any surplus of funds? Meaning if you are on a full scholarship and receive additional scholarships does the money go to the student athlete?

Football does not allow for partial scholarships. And yes I pocketed surplus funds.

Partial scholarships are not allowed. Furthermore, a 'recruited athlete' in football has restrictions on academic aid etc from the school. I don't think they can take any from the school itself but maybe can take outside sources like Pell , etc.

There are criteria that make for a 'recruited athlete' - official visit, types of contacts allowed, etc.
