After the Sr. bowl workouts Tim Tebow will bomb, will or should QB recruits start looking a little harder at how Florida will set them up for the NFL?

Alex Smith was the #1 pick out of Meyer's system and it didn't translate well into the NFL. It's taken him quite some time to develop into at least an "OK" NFL QB after probably shaking Meyer's coaching.

If a kid is thinking of an NFL career, should Florida be a red flag after everything that Tebow and Smith will/have gone through?

Just a thought. More times than not, you'll see alot of recruits mention "so and so will get me ready for the NFL." If you were a school recruiting against Florida, shouldn't this area be used and be used time and time again?

Just a thought. Florida has Brantley, but after that.....the QB's that have signed with Florida recently.....

Bryan Waggener
Jordan Reed
Trey Burton
Tyler Murphy

these are all Dual Threat QB's. Looking forward, who are legit NFL prospects?

Meyer's system does not develop good QBs or OL.

Nobody cares how Alex Smith turned out in the NFL. He got his money...I'm sure this is all these recruits care about. Will recruits start questioning LSU because JMac is looking like a huge bust for the Raiders? No. They'll see he had $$$ signs all over him.

No way in hell a recruit would question anything at Florida right now anyway...if anything, they'd see it as a opportunity to get early PT as a QB. When you win, it doesn't matter.

Depending on where Tebow gets drafted, I think Meyer still has a strong sell with Smith. It really doesn't matter how he is doing currently. He was the #1 pick and is still in the league. I think its more on the draft status than the actual NFL performance. Hell, are top QBs lining up to play at Michigan because of their list of impressive QB's NFL careers? I know that is different staffs, but I think draft performance is much more of a sell than NFL careers.

I think pro style qbs, with true nfl aspirations, will think twice before signing with UF. Dual threat guys will obviously continue to flock there.

Kids (or their 'advisors') will have to take into consideration the rookie pay scale thats coming to the nfl. Your 2nd contract is where you will get paid for now on, so JRock would be broke if he was 5 years older.

Tebow couldnt even take a snap from under center and was tripping on his own feet on his dropbacks. Im sure it wont have a positive effect.

It may have a trickle down effect in the future and Scouts will start to discount Florida QBs. Its not going to do anything in recruiting for them right now.

But say, Brantley goes through the same thing...then it might automatically start to question whether Florida is the right system for them.

But right now, no way in hell. They're all being sold as the next Tebow...being one of the best CFB players to ever play the game at a university smoking hot. Under a coach who plays for god.

Quarterback isn't like other positions, whereas there is no school known for producing solid NFL quarterbacks.

USC had Palmer and Sanchez who have worked out and Leinart (so far a major bust), but I can't think of any other school that is pumping out NFL quality quarterbacks.

So, I think the answer to your question is "no" you can't use that against Florida.

Now, you can definitely use that argument in various other positions.

UF hasn't put shite into the NFL in the way of offensive talent for years now and it hasn't slowed them down.

Wrong. Harvin's had a good rookie year and added another dimension to the Vikings offense.

Ok, there's 1 in literally the entire span from Spurrier till now.

None of their other receivers panned out to be anything more than average/solid contributors.
They never churn out great OL.
You got Fred Taylor at RB and the rest...? Earnest Graham?
No TEs of note really (Though Cornelius Ingram was looking great in camp before injury).

So one player in Urbie's offensive scheme doing anything in the NFL currently proves you're right?

Okay......

Great thread. I was actually wondering this as well. But I guess the same can be asked of all schools that run this type offense.

You're missing the point. JMAc is a personal issue, Tebow is a system issue.

His problem was his attitude, not his system.

Care to explain why Bridgewater would rather play at a UGA/LSU/Miami in a pro-style system?

They did kind of whiff on QBs this year. They only signed Trey Burton who is just a 3-star prospect.

Burton is just the #18 dual-threat QB prospect this year

Where in the hell did I ever say that Urban produced a lot of quality offensive players??? The guy said there has been none and I replied that Harvin's a good player which is a fact. Quit reading more into something that's not there.

They signed Jordan Reed last year who was a pretty high 4-star.

Brantley steps in and starts a couple years, then Reed starts for 2 years.

I'm sure they'll ink a highly regarded guy next year. Bridgewater or that Christian Lemay cat.
