Jefferson/Chase/Marshall/Anderson/Sullivan/Palmer is some great depth at WR for next year.

This is LSU we're talking about.
Well, sure...obviously there is a doomsday scenario.
We only lose 1 or 2 guys from our 2 deep on offensive line and the tackle spots should be better next year, either through player development or Rosenthal/Wire winning a starting spot.
Burrow and every receiver return and the backfield should be able to provide some of the explosiveness that we sorely missed this year.
Tight end is a bit of a concern and losing Moreau will hurt. But if Pettigrew returns to form, he should be a beast. Hopefully McClendon will be serviceable and Moss is able to contribute.

I agree that a lot of those guys are currently solid #3 wrs.

Chase's performance on Tuesday reminded me of Devin White's coming our party in the bowl game against Louisville. I think he's going to be an absolute stud next year.
And Jefferson has proven to be way better than a solid #3.

I have high hopes for Chase. He catches the ball with his hands and has good body control. I think he can be Diet Jarvis Landry. IF he does it though. He disappears for giant stretches.

True, I believe that he has proven to be a 2.

Im thinking you dont understand football if you believe you can disregard an entire season and focus on one game that just so happens to be the best passing game we've had in AT LEAST 15 years. You think that bowl game was indicative of our offense?

In what world are we loaded at wr?
Next year we have Chase, Marshal and Jefferson. If those guys make the normal progress toward consistency that is LOADED!

Chase has flashed. Marshall has shown nothing yet. He could be good. But nothing on tape shows that yet. So if you are going to count high school potential and two soon to be seniors that are coming off 20 catch 300 yard seasons....sure.....we're stacked.
It will be hard for a true freshmen to break through to a major role unless they are really spectacular. The WR corp wasn't amazing but it was pretty goodish for LSU especially in comparison to past years in the program and was much deeper than usual. For example, there were 5 WR with 20+ receptions this year, which just doesn't happen very often at LSU. Usually there are 2 or 3 guys that dominant the touches (usually only 2). Had the production from Chase, Sullivan, Anderson, and Dillon been distributed between just two of them, it would be hard to see where a true freshman would break through.
Furthermore, Jefferson absolutely has locked down a starting spot. In addition, Dillon kind of came on in the second half of the season. He had all of one catch (although a huge one) in the first 5 games and snagged around 3 a game the last 7 and I don't see much reason to suspect he wont continue to play the role his has. Finally, if UCF really was Chase's coming out party then those three seem destined to rack up the majority of the touches with Anderson, Sullivan, and Marshall to get the rest.

Said about the guy that has had the best season statistically for a WR at LSU since Landry and Beckham in '13.

So the receivers sucked the entire season?

I mean, this not so stellar wide receiver corps is part of the best game we’ve had in 15 years. So I see, not just potential, but talent. I guess you’re saying it was all Joe Burrow.

I think it’s indicative of the receivers we do have.
We found playmakers in chase, Jefferson while finding that Sullivan Dillon and Anderson will only get better. I think you will see that Giles will be pushed way back.
We may only take one WR on a Hester Carries-claimed shallow wr corps.
Overall, I am only buying 20% of what you are selling, here.

I think that says more about our historical passing game.

He had the 6th most receiving yards in the conference and his worst 2 games were against Southeastern and La Tech so his numbers are not even inflated against bad teams. Hell, he had 6 catches for 81 yards against Bama and is pretty much the only player on the team that looked decent in that game. The only thing you can really hold against him is that he was a 3 star coming out of high school. He is a legit wr and it is dumb to pretend otherwise.

I think he is legit WR. In fact, this season i believe we would have been absolutely fricked without him. Thats kind of the point I have been arguing this entire time

100% Agree with you on that one. This kid has all the tools to be great, explosive speed at the position with the ability to quickly separate from defenders. Burrow is going to love having him on the field. Nothing against Dillon, but with all his speed, he has shown that he cannot get open when faced with press man to man coverage. LSU coaches and fans will love this kid!

Marshal has caught everything that's come to him, and he is a bull after the catch. He looks like our most talented receiver, so I'm guessing he has not mastered the playbook yet. I bet he tears it up next season.
It used to be that you could evaluate these guys by what they do on special teams - remember Jarvis Landry lighting people up his freshman year? - but those days are over with the loss of the kickoff.

I think Giles transfers out.
