Everyone needs to get over the Louisiana fence. That's old thinking

Louisiana doesn't put out near enough quality players in near enough quantities to keep LSU in the playoff picture.

When Rick Pitino was originally hired at Kentucky, it was a custom to always sign the Kentucky Mr. Basketball. He stated that he didn't want Kentucky players to feel entitled to playing for Kentucky and he didn't want to create ill will by signing a local player and having him sit on the bench and be disgruntled and perhaps embarrassed in front of the hometown fans.

That's LSU's route. Take only the elite in-state players. Make it be a privilege to play for LSU. It had gotten to where it wasn't a privilege, and was often a safety net or second option.

Of course. But the players are clumped together in a few positions. Not enough QBs or linemen.

Try to make a Top 5 class out of just Louisiana players, or even 90 percent.

You can't do it.

Fertilizer on almost all accounts.

LA (and our natural recruiting footprint into Houston) is the long term lifeblood of our program. It will almost every year produce more top shelf SEC quality talent than we can sign.

And that's especially so with skill positions and DL/LB.

Apparently it doesn't produce reading comprehension.

Louisiana should be the core of our recruiting.

Top 5 class

LA talent is undervalued by the services (always will be) … there will be 3*s from LA this year which will play in the league for a decade or so.

Id run it like O said he would....keep LA talent home.

This. I thought this was an established fact on TD.

Of course we need to recruit Louisiana, and hard. No one is saying different.

But you won't see any 20 instate/5 out of state classes any longer. It will be more like 10 in and 15 out. Only the elite Louisiana players will get offers.

The lesson that so many think O needs to learn is not to take MORE Louisiana players. It will be offer LESS, so he doesn't have to process them.

So you are happy with a 10-15 ranked class of mostly Louisiana guys?

Are you also happy with the Citrus Bowl?

LSU could literally just sign 25 Louisiana guys every year and still compete year in and year out for a SEC championship. There is that much talent in this state.

6.

LSU signed 6 Louisiana kids.

Alabama signed more Bama kids than LSU signed Louisiana kids.

It's either good or bad, and I really don't care, but he's not worried about recruiting Louisiana. He's recruiting nationwide.

Per capita Louisiana puts out more NFL talent than any other state.

They literally could not do that. This year, for example, that class would end up with 5 WR/Ath; 6 DBs, 2 RB.

You would be competing with ULL, Arkansas and Tulane on the back third of the class.

It would be a disaster of a class.

This is a meaningless platitude.

At what positions?

What was their academic situation coming out of high school?

Were they late bloomers?

The fact is LSU only produced about 10 elite recruits this year, and lost only Van Pran that they stuck with.

We should be supplementing the State not cherry picking it.

Go out and Get QBs and first rounders, but processing kids and the. Missing on OOC players is fricked up.

We made room for Burch and Burton and Rakim and booted good LA players and what the frick do we have to show for it?

Now we gotta go out and fill spot and there is no guarantee we’re getting better players than the ones we processed.

Do you expect us to get a DL to replace Lee or a CB to replace Burns?

I don't. It was as much about their positions as it was about the specific players.

I would love another DE.

That was a big position of need and we took 2 and a JUCO. And I’m only sold on Roy

And yeah I’d also love another safety.

Because we have 2 signed since 2017.

What available players are out there for our plan B that are also positions of need?

And YES this is our plan be because clearly plan A involved Burch, Burton and Rakim.

I think the point that's getting missed is that the staff believed that Burns and Lee were expendable. Thus, they were weak links in the class.

Losing other potential players (at different positions) does not change that analysis.

Why do so many people want players the coaches obviously do not want?
