Facts > Emotions

1. We have 50! 50! 4 star and 5 star players on this current roster, an LSU all time high talent ranking wise! (not taking away from any players ranked lower, just making a point, and stars aren't everything)

2. The current recruiting class is top 5 as it stands right now! With a lot of upside with the remaining spots.

3. LSU is the only team this decade to win 2 Crystal Balls..If there were a playoff, we might actually have 3. The 2006 team was way good! Who of us didn't want a shot at UF at the end of that year. The following year what happened? hmmm

4. ESPN thinks we are landing the top Prospect in the Nation.. Russel "the" Shepard !

His character and off the field contribution to this class are unheard of. This is good news!

Question time! Which way is the program headed?
Ok, just had to double check

Immediately After you win a MNC, what is the likely direction a team may go in the short term? Right, downwards a little.

I confess, I have been negative at times, because I am emotional person, and I don't like to sugarcoat reality and I follow this team passionately, and daily, year round. I love LSU!

With that said, "I Repent"... I ask you, to also, be more encouraging and uplifting here on the board (if you haven't been) for our fellow readers, posters and lurkers...

Many of us check the board a lot looking for some good news or news in general, especially this time of year...and when a negative rumor or report is made, we fall back into the "Catastrophic Syndrome".

I have started this thread in hopes that you will simply add your own words of encouragement regarding players, prospects, coaches, quotes, attitude, grades, facilities, and the like, and keep this thread on going.

Great idea. You are the man for this!

Being positive with FACTS is NOT the same as cheerleading and ignoring the issues (which i can't stand).

FACT: We have one of the best RBs in the nation.

FACT: If...no...WHEN J-Lee gets it together, WATCH OUT! We'll have one of the most dangerous offenses in the nation! Book that shite! He's only a freshman, and he WILL improve.

Seriously, you always lose a few games when you're breaking in a new FRESHMAN QB. We were lucky last year to have a 5th year senior waiting in the wings after JR left.

We have new DCs replacing Dorsey, Steltz, and both our corners and the defense really isn't that much worse than last year. Plus we've got a young secondary that's very talented and only ging to get better.

We've won 2 National Titles in 5 years, we have the best gameday atmosphere in the country when people aren't looking for things to boo about, and we've got a coach we don't have to worry about leaving us for another opportunity.

Some of our fans need to quit acting like idiotigers.

APEX TIGER

Thank you for giving me another positive post to read. SEE...IT MAY CATCH ON WITH EVERYONE (I can be optimistic).

1. We have a great offensive line. Ciron and Herman have been extremely good for us and not to mention our young right side of the line has played great. Barksdale only being a So. WOW! and Helms goes without explanation. I thought this guy's leadership and character are unparalleled(sp)

2. We have playmakers everywhere on the field and more coming in next year. If we can get all these guys some early playing time in their college careers they will develop very nicely and we will reap some serious benefits.

3. Our secondary and LBs are extremely young and will continue to get better with time. To at least have a legit shot against these top SEC teams means a lot.

4. We have one of if not the best LSU recruiting class ever coming in and combine that with our recent past recruiting classes.....I CAN'T WAIT!

This is a great team/program/atmosphere/place to be if your a Tiger Fan or a recruit. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

per ESPN

Dominique Allen comments on change of heart
Big back Dominique Allen spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site TigerGumbo.com about his recent commitment switch from Tennessee to LSU.

"I knew I was going to LSU, I just went ahead and announced it," Allen said "I pulled coach Miles to the side and told him I was coming. I just want to go there, it was the decision I had to make. Any person wants to feel at home where they are going to go, and I feel at home at LSU."

"They were getting nervous because they didn't really have any other fullbacks looking at them," Allen said. "I told coach Miles on Sunday right before we left and got on the road. He was excited. He couldn't believe it. It was just something I needed to go ahead and do."

Kevin Minter:

“I do not pay attention to the recruiting rankings and stuff like that, but my brother does,” Minter responded. “He’s big into that recruiting stuff. I’m just ready to get there (LSU) and hopefully win a championship.”

Minter will be one of the few class of 2009 members enrolling in January. Minter claimed getting to Baton Rouge in the Spring was a sacrifice he was willing to make.

“I still intend on enrolling in January,” Minter confirmed. “I’ll think I should be able to go to my graduation, but I’m not too sure about my prom. That stuff really isn’t that big of a deal to me though. I’m just trying to get down there.”

Minter truly believes those sacrifices will play a vital role in him receiving early playing time.

“August, hopefully,”Minter replied when asked when he would like to begin playing for the Tigers. “I just have to continue to train hard and we’ll see what happens.

“Being able to play as a freshman means a lot to me,” Minter concluded. “I’m trying to get on the field as soon as possible. I just want to get down there to get into the playbook and to start working out with my team.”

FACT - This team is 7-3 with the worst QB play, probably in the history of LSU. Worse than Reggie Ball. Well, maybe not Ball, but you get the idea. I think that speaks for the head coach if anything.

It's a lot easier to get up for Ole Miss after coming back from 28 down as well. I know that the fans were not there to see it. But they are kicking themselves for not seeing the best comeback ever.

I would suspect that will put a few more fans in the seats that weren't originally coming.

It's Ole Miss. Got to go to the game.

My thread on the rant is not going well at all. I usually stay away from there but I decided to give it a try today. Guess that was a mistake.

Ok I'll take a crack at it.

When JJ scored the TD run in the Troy game, J Lee came all the way down the sideline to high five and congratule him. It takes a big man to be a team player and congratulate even your rivals on the team when they make a good play. This seemed to get the rest of hte team motivated as well and we played lights out after that.

Also, I noticed JJ, LaFell, Jai Eugene and Scott getting pumped up on the sidelines and encouraging the fanbase and their teammates.

LSU has something like 56 freshman and redshirt freshman on the roster. This team is stacked with talent for years to come. Thats not even counting the outstanding incoming class that we have. Some of the best recruits in this class will be here in January which is always a plus. We have a great leader at the helm. LSU football is going to be fun to watch for a long time.

I heard this exact same stat when I was watching the Ole Miss/Florida game last year in regards to the Florida team last year (a 4 loss team with a heisman QB mind you). Look where that young Florida team is this year..........

And we Will have the best rated class to ever come to Baton Rouge this year. Yeah......we're gonna be just fine.

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite posters. It's not just this thread, though I love the fact that a few of ya'll are "rallying the troops" and trying to head off all this negativity. Damn, if I wanted to hear a bunch of bitching and whining I'd get married instead of getting laid regularly and getting BJ's....wait, never mind. I like my current marital status. I like the way this board is headed recently as well. Thanks to ALL of ya'll with a positive outlook!!! It's great to be back on this site!

7-3 with losses to teams in the top 10 the year after a NC, is fine by me. We lost our QB, Hester, and Doucet on offense. Not to mention our expected starter at QB.
On defense we lost the greatest DLineman in LSUs history, 2 multi-year starters at CB, All American Safety Craig Steltz, All American LB Ali Highsmith, and our DC.
It,s a rebuilding year where our QB is a redshirt freshman and we're 7-3 with a trip to the Cotton Bowl staring us down. Its great to be a Tiger.
