I don't know why anyone would bitch about Woodward. At A&M, the powers that be wanted to get Jimbo, a guy with a title on his resume. He got it done.
At LSU, the powers that be wanted to get an established, respected name coach. He went out and got Kelly from Notre Dame. They wanted to get an upgrade at baseball and women's basketball, he pulled Johnson and Mulkey. They didn't seem interested in getting a big name to replace Wade, and he got McMahon- who, for all our bitching, was probably the most respected mid-major candidate out there.
Woodward has been able to close the deals with these coaches, and the AD is operating well. That's all you can really ask from that spot right now.

The last football title falls under Alleva. O was his hire, but you can attribute the Gym title to him although Jay was already in house when DD retired. Also, a track title. I just hope we get softball amd basketball before I die.

The best part about that whole saga was that Woodward bluffed those idiots into thinking he wanted Dumbo. Remember when Woodward signed Dumbo to 8&4 there was NO TERMINATION FEE. 8&4 could fire Dumbo and pay him NOTHING!! Woodward bluffed those idiots into that colossal buyout. I remind all my 8&4 friends all the time. I live in Houston.
