I think he's going to be the bust of this class. Watching his film compared to Allen (projects at DT) and Copeland. He doesnt compare to these guys especially playing against less then great competition. Yes, he may run "4.6" but thats straight line. I find he plays a lot slower then that, and his lateral movement is not better then them two guys..
Plus, he's noway more athletic then the DE's that Chavis likes, and seems to be placing on the field the next two years.

Rivals seems to think his strength is his biggest downfall so a move inside wouldnt make much sense. He's definitely got the size and speed to be a force on the edge theaux

Your right, he's going to be awesome. He's big time and a future all SEC player and possible first rounder. I didnt mean to be so dumb. Sorry Dandy Don

This post is way off. This guy is very quick, and has a wicked spin-move(which takes some athletic ability for his size). Adding to the Spin-move,the Swim-move,and the Bull-rush, the kid is fairly fast for his size. Was ranked a 5 star,at one time, also. He does need work in the Weight room(what High Schooler doesn't),and on Technique, but a BUST??? C'mon man!

I think Ego moves very well for a 275 pound defensive end. He might even be bigger than that at this point.
He intrigues me..I think he can be a scary good defensive tackle, but he also looks like he could be a legit defensive end, as well.

First of all Allen doesn't project to dt... OT or DE probably OT.
Secondly His competition isn't poor. He went to Hargrave to play better competition.
The rest is your opinion and that's fine.

I know he is rated the highest. But he's nowhere near being the same type of player then Allen and Copeland. Therefore, based on his hype I think he's going to be a bust. His film to me shows he plays lazy, and too high. He can have all the swim and spin moves he wants, but that shouldnt be needed at his level of competition.
He has the longest way to go of the other DT/DE's signed. With Freak and hopefully Mickey Johnson coming in. I dont see him being better then them..Guess im giving praise more to Brockers,Davenport,Downs,Copeland and J.Allen..

why would you compared Copeland, who is a future DT, to Ego? what video were you watching? links pls

He does play a bit high, but I'm not seeing lazy at all.
He moves extremely well for a guy of his size..not just straight line but side to side as well. He changes directions quicker than most defensive linemen.
Ego is intriguing..I don't think anybody is a lock to be a stud but he's got all the natural ability in the world if he can get his little technique issues fixed.

Whether he develops is up to him. No matter what he's rated,he'll have to put the work in,but he has the mental and physical skills to do it,and I could have said that for all the players. I just wouldn't use the bust word after 2 days.

Is there any video other than what's posted on YouTube. The only video I've found has "Forbes Report" in the top left corner and then later has an October '08 date.
Going by this film I can see why people aren't impressed, very low quality and he doesn't look 4.6, maybe 5.6.
Any new film links?

There is Scout vids that show this kid as a FB,RB,and playing TE. He's a heck of an athlete for his size. Saying that,I do agree he'll have to work on technique and Strength, but most importantly,he needs to get a mean-streak,and quit playing finesse. He has alot of "moves",that he needs to shelve for awhile.

Because they will both play DT at LSU. The days of the 290 DE's at LSU is over. When are the people in this and rant going to realize that. I dont care how the coaches lied to him to get him to sign. Coaches dont pay their bills by listening to where a player thinks he wants to play.
I know we think everyone we sign (as dandy would say) is All SEC and BIG TIME. Having good combines dont make you good football players, especially in high school combines. All woods was a combine phenom for christ sakes.
I used do to this for a living, and know he has a way to go compared to D1 ready players such as copeland and allen. Yes, i think Allen at 290 in two years projects better at the one tech since he plays low and dont think he loses any quickness gaining 20 pounds..Thats why its called projection and im stating my opinion.

I just watched his film on lsusports, only showed a few plays. But was a lot better than the one posted on youtube. Still wasn't "impressive" as compared to Copeland's. But, hey I'm glad to get him, glad to have him, and hope him the best.
Oh, btw, no way the coaches call him up the night before and ask him if they need to hang on to a scholly for him if they're not "impressed" with him. Just saying, I'm more impressed when the coaches are impressed.

I agree tigerfan. No doubt he's a great get for the program. Im sure he's going to represent LSU well. I just think the coaches have to keep him at his weight now, if they expect him to play DE. Thats gonna be tough, which is why he projects at DT better. Therefore, im worried he's not as developed as copeland, or what we already have, and what we have coming next year.
Its gonna be hard for him.

This is not against the poster but addressed more towards the generic proclamations of failure of a player/coach/program.
This is a smart thing to do on online message boards- you throw as much and as many as you can and some stick to the wall.
If you are right then you pull up the bookmarked thread/post/page and you are a god.
If you are wrong , who is going to remember and call you out in specific.
BTW the greater advantage is that things like what defines bust (its quite vague)
- lack of playing time given by coaches?
- he played but didn't look good
- his stats are inflated
So even if he makes it to the NFL like Jamarcus you can always point out that he was a bust there and that is what you meant.
you can make anything as the basis of measurement -right from defining Mother Teresa as an attention whore to Gandhi as a stubborn mule.
