Then what was the issue with Phil loadholt that he could get into OU but not LSU?

the SEC requires more core courses when coming from a JUCO than does the Big 12. Brown was coming from a high school, Loadholt a JUCO.

I keep hearing and reading that too. Do you count on someone who may not have the grades to play?

No way. He dropped him long ago. Guy just doesn't have the grades...

If he has grade problems that concern LSU, certainly Florida and Miami are out of the question.

Ole Miss maybe? (Didn't they take a recruit that couldn't read and write?)

Deandre Brown DID NOT qualify at LSU. He chose Southern Miss, NOT because they out-recruited us, but because there is a NCAA double rule that stipulates that smaller schools from NON-BCS conferences can accept a certain number f student athletes and that they only have to PARTIALLY QUALIFY. It is meant to sort of even the playing field with the larger universities.

Brown said that he wanted to play immediately without the possibility of having to go to a Juco. I will look for the article discussing this and post a link to it sometime later.

Wrong. If he were a "partial qualifier" as you say, he would not have been eligible to play this year, but would have the opportunity to earn a year of eligibility back later in his career.

The SEC used to not allow any partial qualifiers on campus at all, but has changed the rule. So yes, he did fully qualify for any school, in any conference that would require that he only meet NCAA minimums (ie not Duke, Stanford, ND, some Big Ten schools, etc)
