didn't want to start an argument about whether certain recruits were Miles' or Saban's so I left out Holliday's class.

But yes, I think you could probably say that HOlliday was a bit of a gem

a gem that committed to Saban

Frank Alexander was a hidden gem, hidden from us in BR while we were signing the dynamic duo of Jasper and Crutchfield

This is very true and exciting. Georgia HSFB is on the rise as well as the Carolina's. I like the thinking on that front.

We have had more major misses from guys that would have come to LSU in a heartbeat, than "gems."

Dez Bryant (I know the TT argument) and Frank A. are two MAJOR misses under the Miles era.

Exactly. And we have strengthened a presence in east TX as well.

We have slowed down on FL ever since Peterson and Baker which is a concern...

Logan was at least known and was mentioned several times before he even went to LSU's camp. I'm 100% sure about this, even if he wasn't in the Rivals database. Hell, someone was trying to pimp him out on here before the camp even came.

Yeah, with the guy who was pimping Bennie, that does make Blackmon the biggest unknown Miles has taken. Good point there.

I think we could have pushed Mike Mauti a lot harder. Thats my area, and i have heard he had an interest in LSU. Joe Pa just pushed harder.

Most depressing thing I've ever read.

True.

At least we have seen a little bit of a pickup up the east coast. One big pickup there thus far with the new coaching additions. (JH)

Speaking of A&M, I wonder how this kid compares to the Robinson kid they have committed from South Beau

I am trying to ask all the LSU sites what the deal is with Robinson. He does have promising film on Rivals. Hopefully he wasn't dumb enough that he just took the Aggie offer and wouldn't show up at LSU camp.

Saban missed a lot of gems too in his era though, its not limited to just Miles. Alexander missed his offer due to a poor camp I think. All the more reason why if they just fell in love with this guy from a good camp, with no other evaluations, is a mistake IMO.

Only two "MAJOR" misses and a NC... I'll take that.

Very true. We are "in" on 4* DT Richard Ash from Pahokee though and could get him IMO if we pushed. Just not sure how good he is bc UF seems to have dropped him, and his film isn't overwhelming. Ash visited campus this week.

IMO Alexander and Mauti are the two biggest misses. Dez obviously could be a future NFL probowler, so, well...

I think we still get Michael Taylor along with Storm. That would be an impressive reach into Georgia. I would love to establish ourselves out here in the Sunshine state but there are programs galore. If we could do to Georgia or the Carolina's what we do in Texas we would be set. Kinda are already though with our strangle hold on local talent and our ability to attract the best Texas has to offer. THE BEST TEXAS HAS TO OFFER. If we do indeed land Lache which I think we will. That would be huge Shep Lost Seas WOW

Christine Michael is a guy that we will have to wait to see how he performs.

There are others I am sure, but these are the ones that come to mind at 1:30 AM

Saban did miss on a fair share as well so thats duly noted.

For every miss there was a gem , because even though we missed Bryant we got Lafell.......

One committiment doesn't make or break a recruiting class so I'm not sweating it.......

Lynx that post earlier wasn't directed at you buddy......

Who knows that there was no evaluation?

Who knows that they weren't aware of this guy prior to the camp? We have three defensive coaches with coaching roots from Alabama.

We hadn't heard about Sam Gibson, either. He wasn't a household name a month ago and Rivals thinks he's a 4* athlete.

The whining and doubting when you have an entire institution, state, and fanbase like Tenn that can't buy a QB right now. We're sitting on a boatload of 4* in this class and then act as though we are working with Kiffin's staff on a QB hunt. Our roster is stacked on both sides of the ball. Give the staff and this young man the benefit of the doubt.

These coaches spend alot of time on the road, away from their families doing what we try to do from the edge of our couch/bed on a nice laptop with fastest DSL speed that AT&T offers. Even if they did miss on a recruit, they still deserve a pat on the back. Miles and this staff Has To Produce because of last season. You think they're going to play with scholarships?

This staff has only been together (as a whole) since February and look at what they have accomplished in what is deemed a "limited amount of top-tier talent" class!

Does the words: spoiled, hypocritical, fair -weather, unappreciative, ungrateful, etc. fit some us on this message board? (including myself)- I'm just asking...

Well, according to [link=( https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=30576)]LINK[/link] Holliday visited in January and committed in February. I'm pretty sure Saban snuck out after the bowl game.
