Sounds like you know your stuff, I've got a few questions. I agree that almost all of the bands aren't even resisting the movements they're working on, and I totally agree that this much creativity is just counter productive at this point.
To me it looks like with a lot of the exercises they're using low-weight, high-reps to build explosiveness and power. With an athlete like Guice though, does it make any of the movements a little less concerning given he's not in there throwing around a ton of weight? Just wondering.
"Heavy" is a relative term. If I told you that bar weighed 100lbs, you'd probably say "that's light". but if I tell you we're doing 50 reps...it ain't so light anymore. fatigue is fatigue. Then he's putting him in a parallel stance and pressing overhead. If you've ever done this, you know that when you start getting tired, your pelvis will start to tilt and you're sitting there looking like donald duck with your booty all hiked up in the air. It only takes one bad rep. There's always a risk any time you're in the gym. But you don't need your trainer maximizing it for something that has no benefit. I bet if you had a video from the side, his backside looks atrocious
quote:no doubt, we do similar things. but i use the term similar loosely. take that box jump video... keep the band, lose the box, trade the barbell for some dumbbells or kettle bells (only with a weight they can "land like a ninja" with,lol...softly) held close in the rack position. do some linear or vertical jumps. bam, better exercise and A LOT less risk.
Usually when you see really unorthodox movements they use light weight to minimize risk, but I agree most of this stuff is just ridiculous.

but all this blah blah blah i'm spitting out is not the point. these videos aren't about guice. they're self promotion for his trainer

Trainer is a jackass and is annoying in all the videos. Sadly these types of guys are becoming more and more common in urban environments where they have access to a lot of kids. Sadly I bet Guice lifted at school before and probably did this guys workout after and I'm sure the trainer didn't care. Guice needs to be running for coach Boudreaux right now, not doing this guys garbage.
