Defensive Recruiting

Look at the offensive recruiting and the defensive recruiting in the last 2 classes. If Kelly is serious about winning a title, there will be massive changes in the defensive side of the ball. He is building LSU in to an offensive juggernaut and this defensive staff isn’t cutting it. There is no way any coach worth a damn can ignore the massive difference in recruiting both sides of the ball.
By no means am I trying to bash any of the kids committed because I hope every one of them turn out of be huge impactful players. However, the reality of the situation is that this isn’t a typical LSU defensive class. This isn’t the players fault but the coaches. Their performance on the field has put the teams back against the wall for their goals and no more room for error for Daniel’s. In fact, Daniels could continue to blow up college football but if this defense costs us a win, they cost Daniels a trophy he deserves. Then throw in the fact that Mulkey and Johnson have their titles and legendary players, Kelly will have no choice than to clean house on that side of the ball. House better bring his A game the rest of this season or they’ll all be packing their bags on the defensive staff. The contrast between the 2 sides is just to great to ignore.

Gotta wait to see that first class def side. Womack, Howard, weeks, toviano, yaites, Jackson. Lot of potential with those kids, and all of them were elite recruits.
He may be cleaning house at certain spots of def staff for sure

You’re correct and I appreciate you calling me out on it. That was lazy and thank you for taking the time to fix it.

I think everyone goes on defense. House scheme is suspect at best. The defensive backfield is poorly coached. And the DL is not coached well at all. When your HC has to take over the defense, then you are not worth the $2 mil per year contract.

There are plenty good DCs out there for LSU to not look this bad. I think Cooks needs to be gone too. I'm fine with keeping Steeples as he is a young coach and can grow with Kelly and the program. Don't give up on him. I really wish Lindsey was healthy because I thought he was a great hire for the DL and would have had us recruiting at a good level if he was out there. Right now though, we need a new DL coach and to possibly keep him on in some role.

Bring back Meatball? Same coaching tree as Pete Jenkins.
