You just keep hating on Brian Kelly and coming up with utter nonsense excuses for doing so. And you might want to TRY to understand how recruiting actually works...right now, you clearly have no clue that transfer portal is the way to fill immediate needs....NOT counting on HS seniors who have never played one down of college football.

I feel a little guilty for arguing with you, to be completely transparent.

Let me try a slightly different and more inert method.

Brian Kelly says that what makes the SEC special is, in large part, the speed and athleticism at the edge rusher position. He is not recruiting any of those Deep South body types, of which he believes sets the teams apart in the South…not sure how you can argue that point.

Obviously to meet immediate needs, a proven player from the portal can boot up more quickly than a true freshman…it would be awesome if he recruited difference makers at that position, and supplemented with portal players based on immediate needs….which should be minimal if you have recruited properly.

Does that make sense?

Yeah, doesn’t seem to be a difference maker like I thought he would be out of high school

Disagree some and agree some. The "Deep South" doesn't have a monopoly on edge rusher body types. 2023 class - D Womack 5* DE/Edge guy from MD and J Howard med 4* DE/Edge guy from MN both of which would definitely meet the body type requirement. And from 2022 class, even though Harold Perkins was recruited as a LBer, I assume you watched his 2022 games and some into 2023 when LSU TRIED to use him as a Edge rusher...it worked until other teams found out he couldn't get around a blocker assigned to him. I have no idea why Womack and Howard didn't work out...that is a ? for the DL coach.

Do you need a history lesson…the Deep South actually does have a monopoly on that body type…your head coach believes that, he is the one who said it.

Let’s play a game…you load up on defensive ends and outside linebackers from Minnesota and Indiana and I’ll recruit Florida and Georgia…then let’s see which team you like better

I never heard Kelly say that about body types and the Deep South. Got a link? What is commonly said by northern coaches like Kelly was is that you have to go to the "Deep South" for your positions like WRers. BTW, you need to form your own recruiting service because Womack (5*) and Howard (medium 4*) were rated very highly and had lots of major college offers. Sooooooo, apparently the recruiting services don't agree with you that DE/Edge types which they were rated at those positions BTW have to come from the Deep South. You need to contact them and set them straight, OK. After contacting the recruiting services, Oregon, Miami, Alabama, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, FSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Clemson, and many others need to be sent the memo about Kelly supposedly talking about "Deep South" edge guys. Those schools offered the players listed above so they are clueless too right?

BTW, in 2023 LSU also had committed Mickens from IN another medium 4* who reneged on his verbal. Same happened this year with Harrold from Tampa FL another medium 4* when he broke his verbal to LSU. Both of those were also rated as Edge. So the problem is not that Kelly does not get committed or sign EDGE guys but for whatever reason they renege on their commits or don't work out.

I'm not certain there are currently game changer DE in the portal besides Princewill Umanmielen from Nebraska. There are two additional Edge DEs rated above Womack in the portal.
