I keep wondering if R. Jefferson may run into anumbers problem.
There are some good D. line recruits left, too.

Everything I have read is that RJ has a spot to the end. I don't see him holding out much longer, anyway.

Its happened a lot over the years duece. We just lost several in the secondary if you include transfers. Not to mention guys that started out in secondary and mived elsewhere. We could lose 3 this year. Thats a mass exodous at db in 2 year span. Much like we could see on the dline. I say take these athletes and find a spot for them.

From an older thread, here's a comparison between USC and LSU with regards to DB talent in the NFL.
quote:

USC. Safeties: Taylor Mays, Troy Polamalu. CBs: Kevin Thomas, Shareece Wright, Eric Wright.

LSU. Safeties: Ryan Clark, Chad Jones, LaRon Landry, Danny McCray, Craig Steltz, Curtis Taylor, Brandon Taylor. CBs: Ron Brooks, Travis Daniels, Chris Hawkins, Patrick Peterson, Corey Webster, Mo Claiborne.

I think it's fair to say that LSU has the advantage in both quality and quantity.

With that level of NFL success, combined with back-to-back Thorpe Award winners, back-to-back Bednarik Award winners, a Heisman trophy finalist, Tiger Stadium, possible back-to-back NCG appearances (including a win this year I hope!), Maxim's sexiest college in America, the food, etc. etc., the question isn't "Why would an elite DB choose LSU?". . . It's "Why wouldn't they?!"

They better if they want to stay relevant the next 5 years. If they have injuries or miss on just a few guys over the next two years, they will have to change their logo to this...

We could always switch to the West Virginia 3-3-5 Defense

Tweets from honey badger talkin about how LSU is DBU and that they will send 4 guys to the draft next year

@TM7_Era: not to mention we have four coming out next year!!

Moral of the story is that we need all the guys that were mentioned 13' and 14'. Some will pan out and some won't but we gotta be ready to reload

USC has Cravens and Hawkins committed and Redfield is said to be theres. If Hargraves and Ramsey commit over the next week.... don't we have to become the leaders for TG and PW? No way USC takes more than 5 DBs with only 18 spots!?

Yes, we are only taking 5 DBs, unless we have something happen.

And with #1 OG Khaleil Rodgers and 4* OT Nico Fallah committing today, it gets even tighter. We will have 15/16 commits by the beginning of August.

2 or 3, I think. 18 total, if I'm not mistaken.

that is correct. However there's concern that one of our recruits from this past year may not qualify so that would open up one more slot.

Cravens,Hawkins,Redfield, Ramsey,Goodman and Willis, who gets left out if they all want in? I've asked many USC people and have gotten different answers. Is Cravens really a LB? Would your staff turn down Goodman if it meant Hawkins and/or Willis didn't come either? Interesting dynamic with that group and USC. Thanks.

Congrats on Rodgers and Falah.

Cravens is being promised S. He wants to be a S. He comes from a very well-to-do family that has a kid already playing D-1 football, so they have been through this before. And Kiffin, when it comes to his players, has more integrity than most D-1 coaches.

As much as people think Kiffin is a piece of shite, he actually is not when it comes to his players. I personally think he is a dick if he was an average joe. But for his football acumen, and as a coach to his players and to his coaches, he is a star. You all do not know about our recent hires, but they are stellar on the D side. In contrast, Carroll burned through coaches because it was his way or no way. Kiffin is different, and in a lot of ways, better.

Okay, (Tiger) rant aside, , we will take 5-- only 5 DBs unless something unusual happens-- and VHIII is in love with USC. Redfield and Ramsey are foregone conclusions.

Btw, according to Hargreaves, we now lead. He is at USC as we speak. I take that with a grain of salt, but I did call him to 'SC a long time ago. I hope I am right.

That works for USC, and it works for LSU. Because if VHIII is a Trojan, Willis will most likely be a Bayou Bengal.
