You have to look at how many tall backs came into the league which I believe isn't many. But the ones that played and were tall were very productive in College and NFL. I really think it's a guessing game from the coaching staff, because if it's the height then no back that's tall would ever produce and that's not the case just my opinion.

Vision is the single most important skill for a RB, doesn't matter what height a player is. Can't coach it, and it's hard to quantify

But production is a good metric. Big bodied kids with wild rushing numbers tend to continue their success at the next level.

bourque is 6'2

Yeah. Now. He's got at least 3 years of growing left to do. Keep that in mind. Men don't stop growing till about age 21.

eric dickerson 6'3

I'm sorry, but let's stick to examples from the present era. Dickerson is from a by-gone time. Athletes like him play DE or WR now.

quote:

jim brown 6'2.... bo jackson 6'1... herschel walker 6'1.....
eddie george 6'3..oj simpson 6'1

Ditto, and only two of those guys are as tall as Borque NOW.

quote:

brandon jacobs 6'4....steven jackson 6'2....darren mcfadden 6'2

These are the only legit comparisons.

I am not sure he compares well with those guys at all.

True he has the hieght but those guys have way more size on them weight wise.

And Mcfadden who may be closer weight wise is blistering fast.

at 6'3 200lbs that is a prototypical WR body.

He would have to add almost 35-40 pounds to be a Jaskson or a Jacobs. Those guys have massive size.

How fast is DB?

Disclaimer: I know they will add weight to him in College......but can he keep his speed and elusiveness with that extra weight. Justin Vinecent didnt handle his wieght well in my opinion.

ETA: Just looked it up and Jackson is 236lbs and Jacobs is 264. D MC is 210.

They don't have a choice. TD mods are going to busy tonight, going Texags style editing and deleting.

Alright big kat i didnt read this thread. You obviously were backing bourque in this thread. But in the stickied thread you go on to say he is 3rd on ur list. You will be fine. blah blah blah.

You are basically doing the same thing LSU fans did. When you got him hes great, when you dont hes ok.

Nope. Read all my posts. I've never changed my opinion on him. He's the 3rd best back our coaches wanted. Whoever we replace him with will be rated lower than him at this current time.

Check it. My posts are there to be read

I'm not confident with A&Ms RBs after Gray and Michael and it's possible they are both gone after this year. A&M really wants Bourque at RB. We already have several other WRs (Bralon Addison, Momon, and Richardson off the top of my head)

OK, but then you go on to say you have the best backfield in the country. Which is why losing bourque isnt a big deal.

Im not saying ur wrong. But ag fans are going to do the same thing lsu fans did. When you got him you love him. when you dont, you dont need him.

Besides the guy that bumped the thread is prob not an LSU fan.

Man I'm
Glad we got him but I don't think he'll stay at rb. Too upright. And id like to see him play better competition Think he'll be a wr. Just my opinion.
