Because he is clearly favored by the staff.

It's more of a scheme thing. Pagano fits our scheme better. Crayton is a middle clogger and brings virtually nothing as a pass rusher. He'll never get faster or more agile. Pagano is light but extremely more athletic and agile. Pagano can add weight and strength and become firmer at the point of attack. Projection. Pagano projects higher than Crayton, particularly in our defense. Also sometimes just comes down to measurables. Pagano has better measurables long term.
I'm not falling over myself regarding either one to be honest but would take either. If I had to pick one, it would be Pagano because he fits us better.

Common opponent. Boutte supposedly destroyed Pagano in Atlanta. Is that why he did not participate at LSU in July? Crayton supposedly dominated Boutte at the July camp.
This is so dumb

So in your super intelligent world, camp performance has no worth in evaluating prospects. So a great number of people are wasting their time and money. You might want to let them know.

sorry if a dumb question but how do any of you know who the staff "clearly favors"?
Posted on 7/22/12 at 5:33 pm to justustm2
Yea a guy is clearly better than another because he beat the same lineman that the other player didnt beat

Because the staff pressed Pagano on his visit and are waiting for him to decide, whle at the same time Crayton was actually participating in the camp and got no push. If Crayton were pushed for a commit, this thread would not be plausible. He'd be committed. Mainly just reading between the lines but also because Shea and Sonny say so.
Agree about the one on one competitions being meaningless. I just didn't want to delve into it in my last post. I'll go into it some now. 1st our coaches didn't see Pagano get dominated by Boutte or any other OL. They weren't there. Also those things are all about matchups. Crayton is much better equipped to take on Boutte because of his strength. Pagano is 30-40 lighter and not nearly as strong. At this point Pagano is about movement and that isn't condusive to a one on one particularly if Boutte got his hands on him. Crayton and Boutte pretty much went mano y mano and there was no real threat from either for any finesse. It was all power on power. Dick measuring contest in essence.

You conveniently picked one off a list of comparisons that was part of an overall question of which was better. A question directed to someone else. And your conclusion is that something or someone is dumb? OK, got cha.

Some guys have more to prove at camp then others.

Thanks. Much more eloquent than "dumb!". However, Crayton did perform better against Boutte than did Pogano. Whether that weighs in favor of Crayton or not does not dismiss the fact that it happended.
By the way you did answer the question I asked despite the intermittent static.
