I agree. They share some attributes as skilled “bigs” but they are different players to me.

Watford filts the more modern mold of an NBA big. Good handles, can drive, nice jumpshot. The back to the basket game is going away

Watford's game is more like Waters than Reids. He handles the ball like a guard, sees the court like Waters, and passes like Waters.
If we get him we're going back to the tourney next season.

If I had to make a comparison to an NBA player, and I'm not saying that Watford game is at that level yet, I would say Paul George.

I don’t think the expectation for cooper was to redshirt then become a player they rely on the next season. I think both he and Hyatt were taken as long term projects who can possible begin making a small impact starting this year. Even if he could play 20mpg you still need another guy to protect the rim for the next season

Honestly he compares better to Jarrell Martin as far as body style and athleticism go.

I think Watford is more polished than Martin was coming in but that is the type of hybrid forward you are looking at.

Nail on the head. He’s just a little more polished and a little less athletic.

Agreed on Cooper, but I think expectations are higher for Hyatt.

Cooper was a developmental redshirt. Hyatt was coming off an injury and needed a year to heal. He was a four star potential Top 100 player on some services.

Only thing is, Cooper has a much easier path to playing time as of right now with Taylor, Manning and possibly Quinnones coming in. I’ll bet Hyatt plays a little 2 or 4 as well tho which will help his playing time.

Comparing Reid to Watford

Watford is more polished offensively and will be more of a scoring threat than Naz. With his height Naz may be a little better on the defensive end, but that's not to say Watford can't play some D. Watford will fill in the Naz role perfectly, maybe better. Hopefully Wade can get a rim protector in the mold of Bigby-Williams. I haven't seen or heard much on Cooper, but he has the height and wing-span to fill in. Finding a PG like Tremont will be the most difficult task. With Watford I believe LSU will actually be better than with Reid.

People were convinced Naz could play the 3 before the season started

People assumed cause he could shoot the 3, then he would be able to handle the ball as well. He didn’t really have to handle it much in a high school, and when he did it was easy cause he was playing scrubs. Watford is doing it against better competitors than Reid and is thriving

Reid had better players on his team than anyone Watford has played against in high school.

Which helped Reid out a lot. He didn’t have to show his handle much
