Nutt left a fricking mess, that's a going to be a long term rebuilding job. God, that was an awful just awful hire.

While I will agree that he has left a damn mess there and did a complete shite job while there, It didn't seem so bad when the got him. He had been to Atlanta a few times with an Arky program that a lot feel isn't much above Ole Miss.

I would be curious as to who thinks this and why...

Arkansas has arrived - they had 10-win seasons in 2006, 2010 and 2011 - in the SEC-W, right now, LSU and Bama are 1a and 1b, Arkansas is a clear #2, with significant distance down to even Auburn. Ole Miss has held 1 of the bottom 2 slots in the division 5 of the last 11 seasons, only leading (or tie) 1 time (2003), with 1 second and 2 third place finishes during the same period. Arky hasn't finished lower than 4th in the division over that entire period, including 2 firsts (albeit 1 tie), 1 second place, and 3 thirds.

I'm not sure Arkansas wasn't the 3rd best team in the country in 2011. Ole Miss' season was, at least to Ole Miss fans, "unfortunate".

We'll likely land Patterson and that will be a wrap. The class won't be elite, we'll still lose ground on Bama, but it shouldn't be a disastrous debacle, either. A middling class, by recent LSU standards.

Even after Liggins and Thompson, we are sittin at 12 on Rivals. You believe we'll finish in the Top 10 on Rivals merely by landing Patterson? Maybe, but I see us finishing somewhere between 10 and 15. Remember, other teams will close their classes with highly coveted recruits as well.

You only go by rivals rankings? Why?

They don't include hill. They are misleading anyway.

Historically, Rivals has been a far better predictor of onfield success than the other recruiting sites. I don't have the mathematics in front of me, but if I recall correctly, Rivals average five year class rankings correlate to final AP/Coaches poll rankings with 20-25% greater accuracy than its primary competitors over the last fifteen years. That could change going forward if the other services devote more resources to player evaluation, but right now the data indicates that Rivals is the gold standard. Rivals alone actually has better predictive value than composite rankings over the same time period, which surprised me.

Two things:

1) Don't ever say Arkansas has arrived. For one, it isn't true. A few good seasons does not mean you have arrived. Any team can go through good and bad slumps. A team without an SEC title cannot and should not be considered "arrived." Secondly, if Hog fans should see that you've said this, we'll never hear the end of it (see SECrant).

2) How can you rationally say Arkansas is "significantly distanced" itself from Auburn, who just went undefeated and won a National Championship in 2010? Really? A team without a SEC title and one measly BCS game appearance and now they're head and shoulders above a team with a NC within the past two years?

Come on, man. Think about things before you say them.

This is where most recruiting junkies are leaning as their most trusted source now. I tend to take all of the major recruiting sources into consideration, especially now that Rivals really seems to have fallen back.
