People who say that Clemson will fall off after Watson are seriously ignorant to the QB recruiting that they have done these days.
They have guys like Zerrick Cooper and Kelly Bryant to work with.
And they already landed big name recruits in Hunter Johnson and Trevor Lawrence in back to back classes.

That kind of recruiting helps keep a program going, but no one can assume the next Watson is in that group. He wasn't a typical talented QB. He was more like a Vince Young, transcendent college QB. They don't grow on trees and without him, they don't win that championship game. Their offense hinged on him. When he struggled early in that game, they couldn't move the ball.
They will still be a very good team, but they passed up FSU because of what Watson turned into. They will have a difficult time staying ahead of them without the same level of QB play.

How much do you want to bet that he can't name one track off that album?
Celebrities wear metal shirts these days. The kid is merely falling in line with the latest fashion trend.

It's much worse if you're a nirvana fan. Those shirts are more popular than Guy Harvey.

Didn't read the thread.
Was told this morning he isn't taking visit to Aggie, will go to Clemson and last visit to LSU
Grandmother is all in for LSU

So you are bothered that someone likes a shirt that has a band's name that you like on it? And they are the problem? Wow

Regardless of how good Clemson will be next year, the odds are great Etienne will be at LSU.
This is not based on any inside information, but rather based upon the facts of this recruitment.
LSU is closer, way closer than Clemson, to Etienne's home town of Jennings. Jennings is LSU territory. His family and friends can see him play at LSU.
It has been known for some time Etienne coveted an LSU offer. LSU offers him a great opportunity for early playing time. If Guice turns an ankle, Etienne could be in the mix to start. Even if Guice is healthy, he will get relieved a lot and there is no back on the roster other than Guice clearly better than Etienne.
And while LSU does lose a few key in state kids every year, the odds still favor LSU in almost all head to head recruiting battles. LSU gets a lot more in state kids they want than they lose.
I did the radio for an epic high school game when Etienne was a sophomore and saw him play. He was a small back then, I assume he has grown some. He was almost impossible to tackle. It seems like Jennings lost that game 176 - 175, although I am sure it was more like in the 50s for both teams. You could forget about it when Etienne hit the open field.
We speculated back then on the radio if Etienne would ever get a college offer. I thought then he was more a scat back type player then, think Dexter McCluster, and that he might not fit in a Miles offense.
It sounds like he has gotten bigger and could be an every down back. He certainly could be a good back in an offense that knows how to get backs in space. For whatever reason, LSU did not know how to run screens under Cameron. That will change with Canada.
Sorry for the long post. My money is on Etienne being a tiger. Yes LSU got excited about him late. So did Clemson, no advantage there.

They could land the top QB prospect in the country every year for the next decade and not come away with another Deshaun Watson. He was a truly great college QB. He set all kinds of ACC records this season which is pretty impressive considering the QBs who have played in that conference like Jameis Winston, Phillip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson, etc.
I'm not saying Clemson isn't going to be good but they will fall to earth a bit without Watson. They've gone 28-2 over the past two years. No way they keep that up.

It was more like his OL totally sucked the 1Q and Watson had about 2 seconds after every snap leading to nervous feet. Still amazed me how bad Clemson's RT was and they still were able to work around him.

This is true, but Watson was still off most of the first half, and Bama's seemed to just feed off of it.
It's the mark if a GREAT player to shrug that off and take over when needed. Watson certainly did that late in the game. He was on another level in the 4th quarter.
