They have a class that is destined to be in 52-49 shootouts for years to come. Weak OL, 1 DL, shitload of DBs, 2 QBs, 2 kickers...... get where I’m going?

Should be top 7 or 8 when we finish with Surtain, Joseph, Joiner, Goodrich. Not bad for a down year in LA.

Difference between 10 and 5 or 8 and 3 is splitting hairs. I’d put last years freshman class at Lsu up against any freshman group in the country. And oline and dline are never really sexy on paper. There may be a freak of nature every few years but mostly playing in Sec or other major programs is too much for a freshman. They almost always need a year or so. Oline especially. Looking at the offer list says a lot. We were hurting for lineman in a bad way before 2017 recruiting class. Only 5 on roster from previous few years untill last year. Clapp even said how amazing it was seeing all these talented freshman last year and this year. We needed lineman following 2017 class and O got it done. Very impressive so far.

What do the rankings mean expert? Not a damn thing. You have no clue how anyone will do I need college. But then again, you think you know everything.

Going to be interesting to see where Texas is, as a program, compared to LSU, in 4 yrs.

I am very pleased with this class. Congratulation to all involved and welcome to the Tiger Nation to all the new Tigers.

Jesus Christ. The kids are out in force. Probably not a swinging dick even knows what Texas got in their class by position. Lsu is top 10 in a very down year for Louisiana and we are bringing in a class that is finally addressing needs in the trenches, plus some great skill players, and we still have ignorant mfs wishing we had landed Herman, despite his record, despite the turmoil happening there....they just like those stars mane

We know what you are hoping.

I get where you are going. Plus, they NEEDED guys in the trenches badly, especially on the oline after all the transfers. They aren't building a team to win championships nationally, because you gotta have it in the trenches, but they will compete well in the big 12 probably because it is a shootout league anyway. Amazing when the kids ohhhh and ahhh over gundy when he puts up 80 against Texas tech
Then plays a real defense and puts up 10. Been like that for decades in that conference

Shhhh...these boys don't care...they are flashy star gazers. Didn't learn a thing with the miles classes.

give it a rest man. just because a man supports LSU and it's present coach doesn't make him the ogre you make him out to be. O IS our HC and deserves to be supported until he proves otherwise (if he does). anyone with an ounce of objectivity can witness that O has made a lot of very good moves. he's not perfect but no one else is either. because of his resume' some people seem determined to close their minds and never give the guy a chance. the past is history and the job search is over.
to be sure, his job requires a return to title contender and he surely knows that. so far he is on the right track to do this. his handling of the OC situation is going to go a long way in determining his future and it needs to be played out.

I remember when I was younger, I always wanted the big name coach. Had no clue whether he would work out, but because he had been successful nationally in the past, I thought it was the right coach. Over the many years of watching all sports, I've found that to be false. Many of these successful past coaches were just in right place at right time. Kids idolize these big name coaches far too much, especially someone like herman.

Damn Texas at 3?
I’d take our class all day over Texas’s class. That’s not a knock on the players they have committed but the positions. If LSU had 3 linemen combined committed we’d be in deep shite.

Ate you serious? Who gives a shite what we are in the sec west. We can't control other programs. We (coaches) can control Lsu to an extent. With a top 10 class, especially one addressing needs, Lsu can compete with anyone. The key is to build that talent and depth back up in the trenches. Lsu will always have playmakers and athletes outside the trenches.

been there, done that, sorta...ha. funny thing is that the football people at Texas see this glaring weakness too. When do we play them? All these star gazers will see the weakness in Texas then.

I looked at their class yesterday and I agree with your conclusion wholeheartedly. they have a higher rated class but if we could "switch" them, LSU would be the loser. I think Herman is desperate to turn their team around (as he should be) and is just chasing the highest rated players at any position. the Big 12 gives him a higher chance of success with that approach. it seems he has a decent defense already. his biggest problem is building an offense and he damn sure needs quality OL but so far hasn't signed it. give him a couple of years to judge but I simply think his objective is different than ours; we are recruiting needs that are required to win in the SEC and that is not the same as he's faced with. imo, the big 12 has only one team with a very good D and that's Oklahoma. for whatever reason(s), the big 12 has gone away from defense and play "flag football". some of their games are the mirror of video games.

Texas top 8 ranked players are all WR or safeties or CB’s ??
Texas has the number 8 DT committed. There class is pretty stacked from a rankings perspective.
