And like I said it is EXACTLY the same situation as when LSU hired Archer. Players coach. They adored him but he was DEEEP over his head as a HC.

Wasn't Archer fine as a coach but a shite recruiter?

Doesn't seem comparable here.

Care to guess why?

Why don't you tell us? Black, White, Yellow or Brown he's tearing it up on the recruiting trail and those are facts. I have not seen anyone say he's a great coach. Now take off you race glasses and understand any new coach at Notre Dame is going to be over hyped, just because they are at Notre Dame and stop being ignorant.

Not bad examples, but outside of Kirby(who is a Saban disciple), all of those coaches are offensive guys. That seems like a little safer bet if you’ve seen those guys have a lot of success on offense, especially in today’s age of football. Huge risk by ND no matter which way you cut it.

It was the other way around. He and Bill Arnsperger had huge NFL ties and that was the recruiting draw. Archer was extremely poorly equipped to manage a major college football program. Arnsperer wasn't much better but he was a crazy good trainer and game coach. They both recruited on their NFL ties. Successfully.
