Hatch will never play again
But he will still hold a scholarship at the QB spot for 2 more years. And he WOULD play say next year being the emergency QB for Jefferson/Lee. I wouldn't expect Miles to hand over the reigns completely to either of the 2 true freshmen QBs with Hatch still around.

Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

I think he's good but not great. Many Mississippi high school football fans I've heard from consider him to be only the 3rd best QB in that state this year. I understand why the coaches are a little panicky in getting 2 QBs to have 5 QBs next year on scholarship (with no seniors) but in reality I don't think he'll play at LSU unless we go through a long rash of injuries. I also think us signing him really hurts our chances of signing any QB next year.
He is the best in the state by far. MSU and UM fans will only say differently because they could not get him.
He is a good QB with ALOT of potential that needs time to develop but if he develops into his potential he is going to be a hell of a QB.

I agree. But if Jefferson and Lee somehow both got hurt you'd see Hatch play with Shepard backing him up.

The only one that could is Shepard and he very very likely won't considering how much of a threat he is at QB.

I'm pretty sure Crowton will draw up a few plays with him lined up at WR.. no telling what he does from that spot, though.

any chance Lee and/or Hatch transfer? would be nice because we really don't need 5 QB's on scholorship and they both have already had their shot here. Garrett has more upside and we can't afford to lose 3 more years waiting for it to click for Lee. Hatch has no upside. Also, dont we have a bunch of kickers and punters tying up scholarships?

The idea of Garret scaring off recruits deserves no merit. The kid is really good and has a lot of potential, but not so much that other recruits would be scared of competing against him. If any QB scares other recruits off it will be SHEP and Im okay with that. Because Shep is...well... He's Shep.
Broadway doesnt want to sit behind SHEP. Bottom line. I doubt he's worried about Jefferson, Lee, Hatch or Garrett. If I were Broadway Id bolt too. In all honesty because of our QB situation we really wont need a QB next year. That being said I think we still try to sign at least one to be on the safe side.

that and broadways coach is a big bama fan and would probably pay to blow saban

I know Broadway is from LA and will be a great player, but he isnt the only player out there on the radar. We should be sitting pretty with some other in state guys and Im sure some out of state as well. We have Shep anyways, so Im content for awhile.

I'm not saying that nor is anyone else. I'm saying the idea of 5 scholarship QBs with no seniors is what would scare off ANY QB recruit really.

Broadway would sit at Bama as long he would probably sit at LSU. Both schools would redshirt him and he'd be 2 years behind Shep here.

My point is I'd like to sign Broadway over Garrett for a number reasons. Including I think he's better than Garrett and is an extra year difference as far as eligibility is concerned. I think Garrett is good, just Broadway is better. And losing Broadway hurts us a lot more than losing Garrett would.

Incredibly stupid. I think it's a retroactive response the coaches are signing 2 guys this year to have 5 total next year (with no seniors) which is a lot. Would be even dumber to sign a guy next year if we sign 2 this year. 6 scholarship QBs? Is there even another school that has 6 scholarship QBs?

attrition is the name of the game tbird it will happen bro, regardless depth has nothing to so with terrance broadway its where he wants to go and where he is being pushed and neither is LSU. ive heard he has had his mind up to go to bama since his freshman year and his coach is the main reason behind that

You make some good points Thunder, I get what your saying. Sure 1 qb this year, 1 next year might be a better scenario. At this point, Garret might seem easier to let go than Broadway. Then again, lets see how Garret develops first.
As for schollies, can you post me a link of other schools with more QB on scholly. Im just curious. As for the coaches, well who knows what the coaches are thinking, obviously did it for a good reason. Its fun to discuss, but im not a coach, so I dont know their rationale. I think attrition could come into play though. Maybe not this year, but years after as well. Players disgruntled, no playing time, kicked off the team, even changing positions or heading to the draft. You never know. Im not worried about Broadway. Like I said their are other QBs out there better than Broadway with LSU on their list. Remember when we signed JR and MF the same year. Well that scenario worked out well for us didnt it.

That's what I'm asking. I don't think there's any schools, maybe 1 I guess, that have 6 QBs on scholarship.
Going through the SEC this is what I found out schools currently have on scholarship at the QB position...
Florida - 3 (counting Cam Newton who is suspended indefinitely)
Georgia - 3
Kentucky - 5
South Carolina - 5
Tennessee - 3
Vanderbilt - 4
Alabama - 3
Arkansas - 4
Auburn - 3
LSU - 3
Mississippi - 3
Mississippi State - 4

btw i dont think hatch should have ever been put on scholly but maybe he threatened to leave or some shite and the staff felt that was the only way to keep him

He came to LSU because of his and his family's relationship with Crowton. He walked on and did so well they awarded him a scholarship last year. I think he earned it. I would of wanted him starting all year over Jarrett Lee if they were both healthy.
