Graduated and played for Weiner over a decade ago. Weiner is a very nice guy. He's also borderline hilarious IMO.

Having said that, he's a bad football coach, and I'm not even slightly exaggerating. The talent that's gone through that program with next to nothing to show for it in the way of hardware is embarassing. His spin offense is so fundamentally flawed and archaic it's hard to believe someone in major high school football is still using it.

Also a big reason why Catholic, and Weiner, has done so well the past however years was because of Garidel.

Is this a true statement? Garidel is the most elementary DC I've ever encountered at the major high school level. Some of the schemes we used to run in 3A South Carolina ball would make that drunk's head spin.

If you want the secret to CHS's success just look to the infrastructure and weight lifting program Hatch setup there. The only reason those teams have any success is the fact they have one of the top S&C programs around.

The main reason they've slipped as of late is other programs are catching up to the 24/7 strength program culture. Back in the day CHS was the only program that had kids lifting in the summer as 7th and 8th graders through on to their senior years. Now that's the norm, and they don't have the overwhelming physical edge they once did.

That is the real reason they've dipped. Weiner hasn't changed anything in the last decade and won't do so anytime soon.

If some of yal went and saw the systems that are ran in schools in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina it would make you die laughing watching the things Weiner runs. Louisiana high school football is awesome because the talent is just staggering, but the level of coaching is awful compared to other states.

The coaching level is lower than Texas, Georgia, Florida etc. because the coaches dont have all day to plan practice and game-plan for opponents. Most LA coaches actually have to teach....even Head Coaches.

Really good coaches in LA, they are just handcuffed.

While I was at CHS He literally only coached one P.E. class a day

Not really unless you consider sitting around and watching kids throw dodge balls at each others heads teaching. There are some that teach, but most are P.E. teachers. The coaches that aren't usually teach some rinky dink classes that don't require you to actually teach.

Bottom line, coaching in Louisiana is not as good as other states because of $$$. Pay for teachers is really low here so the brightest minds don't take up coaching as a career.

Guys, its high school football. Not like its a high paying job to be a coach. Im sure our top programs in the state of LA are coached just as well as the top programs of other states.

Every state has its schools with bad coaching and $$$ issues. Very hard to say this state has better high school coaching than this state. As a whole, those teams from 1 state might have better coaching than another state, but in high school football you cant judge how good coaches are because each high school is different. Istrouma, McKinley, etc all probably have horrible coaches. And im sure other states have schools like those with horrible coaches.

Only way you can seriously judge how good coaching is at the high school level is by looking at your major high school programs in each state. That said, LA high school football programs and coaching are right up there with the best of them if you look at the top schools in each state.

Stupid to argue what state has better high school coaches. Impossible to actually have facts to support everyones argument. Every state has its great programs and coaches, and every state also has its horrible programs and coaches.

+1

I graduated in 90 so I witnessed the start of some REAL talent heading into that program. Dale is a great guy, though.

Dale has 0 state titles. He runs a good program but you need to stop smoking crack. He's not even near the top coaches in the state and his son at Zachary isn't really good either. Getting destroyed in the playoffs every year isn't good to me.

he's not even the best coach in baton rouge

Very true,I watched him completely piss away two state title runs when he clearly had the best team and didn't even get to the dome. Good man, good humanitarian, above average coach.

I just hate that CHS uses a gimmicky offense when they have very good athletes.
