What did Downs do on the field this year?
He played very well, when he did see the field. Nevis and Downs were our most disruptive DTs this year. As a freshman Downs looks like he'll be a stud, and I'll bet you most of the posters on this board agree with me.

I'm excited about Downs's potential. Most do agree with you, I'd say. He, Nevis, and probably Edwards were the bright spot as the season went on on the DL.

Look all I know is he's dominating the practices so far. That's more than the other guys are doing. We'll see how he does on Saturday but right now you can't ask him to do much more.

cmon man. I love the kid too. Im assuming since ur responding to all my post that u think im attacking LSU players or the program in general. Im not, im in full support. With that said, for you to be ignorant and think that the kid was disruptive this year then u dont have a clue. He spent a lot of time on the ground. He doesnt have the legs yet to handle himself in the trenches, He's gonna be good.

If it wasnt for a WR coach disrespecting himself and the university, then he wouldnt have been in a situation he couldnt handle yet and could have redshirted. Things dont always go as planned

I feel for the kid. I dont bash kids.. Keeping it real isnt bashing. Open your eyes brother and keep it real.

Whatever dude...you obviously know more than the majority on this board right? He was disruptive on alot of the plays he was in on. His main thing is he is light in the arse, and needs to gain some weight. Other than that I'd say you're ignorant in your assessment.

Didn't Downs see more playing time earlier in the year than later?

I don't know what you're looking at, but when I saw Downs play he looked better than Woods (super 5*). He needs to put on some size but he is very quick off the ball. I think he will be in the rotation with a lot of play next year.

If he gets a ratings boost I wouldn't rule out Carroll offering him as DT - especially since a JUCO DT was just offered.

The offer was to a DE name Mantua Tonga (sp?). He has one to play one.

Rivals scouting report says he has an offer from USC. I believe he did not when he first committed to LSU.
Scout still has a "no" from USC. Offers are LSU, Oklahoma, Cal, UCLA, AZ State.

He was given a "if you want to play OG we will offer you" (or conditional offer). He was never given an offer for being a DT.

Is that different from the mythical "committable offer?"

You saw him play? What truly were u looking at...he played in 11 games had 2 solo and 7 assisted tackles for total of 9...

The poor kid was put in a situation he shouldnt have been in, his heart and motor alone is what got that kid Playing time..Just wish it could have been with him being at his physical best in lower body strength to compete in trenches in SEC

anybody can dominate all star games, when there is no blocking scheme and one one going on

I agree that all star games lack the schemes of regular season, but the fact that everyone/anybody does not dominate, and a few do, means a meaningful comparison can be made.
