USC is so overrated. Every year they have like the easiest schedule and always get upset. If they played against a SEC school they would be raped. Last year the only team they played that was actually good was osu

if that happens, then it's Randle to LSU. It's been said quite a bit now that if Randle heads to Bama, then Kelly to LSU.....and vice versa. If I'm not mistaken, Alabama is only taking one of the two.

basically knew Carroll was gone....

but I've been hearing good news about Devon Kennard

LSU's class is getting sick. Could be one of the best ever with Campbell unexpectedly now in the mix. Seems like a lot of guys feel like they can play right away maybe?

After this past years performance and the new coaching staff- I'm sure anyone who comes to LSU that can produce solidly will get a look at playing.

Are you sure?

Campbell Eliminates Michigan

I know nothing is official until he signs somewhere else, but kind of silly to call him a lock when these, relatively current, reports are surfacing.

How is that a flame? LSU has a down year and all of a sudden the best class in the country with an incredible close. It makes perfect sense.

Probably after this year.

USC has too much star power for their own good.

Well, I think that the kids are probably making that decision - heck they may even be conferring. I would assume that if both wanted to attend the same school, that school would make room. However, with each seeming to be focused on those two schools, each school likely gets one each.

The fact that LSU produces great classes, almost every year is ignored by your statement, and the implication is "The only reason a player would choose LSU over USC would be so that they could play right away."

Now, you didn't use those words, and maybe I'm taking offense where none is intended, but that's what I'm hearing. And we have our share of negative fans, and many are thinking the same thing, but I'm quicker to jump on an opposing team's fan about that.

Nice flame.

Seems more like a valid point than a flame.

Look at Bama's class last year coming off a 7-6 Indy bowl season.

It's not "all of a sudden", either. Many of the kids' formative impressions are made during their sophomore and junior years. A lot of these kids have been recruited since they were freshmen. Also, the consensus is that the payoff for a national championship, recruiting-wise, is not the month after the game, but rather the next recruiting season.

LSU has always had great classes, but you're crazy if you think they've ever been close to as good as this one is. This may be the best class ever if things fall the right way

Obviously this class goes back to last year, but there has to be a reasoning behind the incredible close on guys that might take place

Don't worry; no reasonable person would think that is a flame. Then again, probably 85% of the posters on this board are unreasonable.

Well, if you want to rationalize EVERYTHING:

- You explain good recruiting classes following great seasons: Kids want to go where they can win.

-Then you explain bad recruiting classes after miserable seasons: Kids don't want to go to a loser.

-Then you explain good recruiting classes after miserable seasons: Kids want to go where they think they can play right away.

-Then you explain bad recruiting classes after great seasons: Kids don't want to wait to play. The team is "loaded" at their position.

See how easy that is? However, it doesn't require any real thought or analysis to the process. Every kid is individual, and good recruiters consistently bring in better classes, regardless of the situation before or after (though there is unmistakable variation, which typically ebbs and flows with the overall level of talent from School X's recruiting base.)

Now see? Was that so hard? That actually is true. I'm looking into that myself. Part of it is that Les did assemble a "USC-like" coaching staff - guys who score high marks in recruiting, but not necessarily the best Xs and Os coaches. This year may be the culmination of that.

Also, LSU's classes tend to wax and wane relative to the overall level of Louisiana HS talent. Our top 5 rated commitments (Rivals) are either Louisiana or Houston area players. No surprise there, we recruit Houston as well as any team, including the Texas teams.

10 out of 19 commits (plus 1 confirmed signee, per Rivals) are Louisiana kids, and 3 more are Houston-area kids. The only thing a little unusual since Les took over is that we are getting a few more looks from the state of Georgia, and a mini-pipeline to Michigan (should we get William Campbell).

Yeah, Baton Rouge is a great place to live and LSU is a great place to play football.

I'm in the upper-quintile of reasonable posters on this board. I was just reading between the lines. Nobody questions how USC gets the classes they do EVERY YEAR, but LSU gets a great class, possibly the best ever, and the guy comes in and makes a subtle swipe at the program.

I admitted that I might be taking offense where none is intended, but I'm not being unreasonable, I'm being "spirited". I didn't retaliate, directly, nor did I question his parentage. In fact, my comment, "Nice Flame", was not ironic or sarcastic, it was sincere. He slipped it in right at the end.

does USC even start to be somewhat concerned about UCLA if carroll goes there along with pressley?
