I don't think EE's sign a LOI at all. If they are able to enroll they just sign up for classes and start attending. They have until school starts to enroll.

RELAXXXX GUYS,,

As long as Cam is as level headed as most seem to believe, he would have absolutely no reason at all to cause ten times the commotion and do this on ESPN if he was picking gumpville.

Even if he does, we still have two top ten O Linemen and his defection will most likely earn us another from out of state if I know Les.

I've seen several people in the mega-thread and this thread say "CRob would be stupid to go to Bama"

In reality, Bama has been better than anyone in the SEC at getting offensive linemen to the NFL.

Every single left tackle that has played for Saban at Bama has been drafted. Andre Smith and James Carpenter both went in the 1st round. Unless something goes wrong this year, Cyrus Kouandjio will go in the first round in the next draft. The only LT that missed going in the first round was Barrett Jones, who - as you remember - played 3 different positions in 3 years and spent only one season at LT.

By this time next year, every single member of Bama's 2012 offensive line will have been drafted - 3 in the first round.

If Cameron Robinson commits to Bama, I'm more concerned about him swaying some of our other recruits than his actual commitment to Bama because he has always been the one recruit that was most "on the fence."

That's what happens when you get the top recruits at their position.

See, in this State, we think about a young man's life AFTER football. If he wants to go there, fine, he'd better love it enough to live there after his playing days are over, if he wants to start a business, go to work, etc, because those opportunities will be lost back home.
Doors that are opened at home with the red carpet treatment don't exist if you leave the State. He's good enough to be a first rounder wherever he goes, so you can keep that stupid selling point to yourself. In fact, he'd be better off here because he'd learn that you DO get called for holding occasionally and not take three years of learning that in the NFL like all of your cherished first rounders have to.

Chance Warmack was a consensus 3*

Ranked 35th best player in the state of Georgia in 2009. Received a scouting grade of 79 from ESPN. Ranked as the 45th best OG in the country by Scout. Only SEC offer came from Alabama I believe.

James Carpenter came in from JUCO and was ranked as the 32nd best JUCO player in 2010. He was an unranked 2* prospect out of high school.

Barrett Jones was the 18th ranked OT coming out of high school according to Scout. Received a scouting grade of 78 from ESPN, and was ranked the 157th best prospect in the region in 2008.

Anthony Steen was ranked the 210th best prospect in the region, and received a scouting grade of 78 from ESPN. Only SEC offer came from Alabama.

The only can't miss prospects we've landed on the offensive line have been Andre Smith and Cyrus Kouandjio. The rest have been developed.

Yet none of them ended up playing left tackle in the NFL. Carpenter has shitty luck with injuries. Though he could be a beast guard. Andre Smith needed 3 years after Bama to develop in to a pretty good right tackle. Though barely any teams wanted to sign him for the big contract he was looking for.

Won the Outland and Rimington, but ended up a 4th round pick. Kind of stupid that he dropped that far IMO

Bama's O-Line has a big test against VaTech's D line. Which is one of the best in the country. Replacing 3 starters and a O-line coach will be a real test for y'all Saturday. Still could win decidedly since you outmatch them at other matchups. But I wouldn't be surprised if their D line shows up big. They're returning a bunch of productive starters and backups.

So you'd blacklist a kid for life due to him picking a different college from the one you like?!

This is one of the silliest things I've ever seen posted on this topic. Obviously he's an NFL talent and will most likely be making more money than he can shake a stick at within 4 years. Playing in the NFL alone gives you more opportunities "in life" than he'll ever need. Secondly, Alabama graduates its players better than pretty much anyone else in the SEC, and the networking system here is pretty insane - even if he turns out to be a bust or gets hurt. Leaving the state won't hurt him a bit - unless he's got sensitive feelings.

Out of all of those offensive linemen I just talked about, only one was from the state of Alabama, fwiw. We've made our living off of developing offensive linemen from out of state.

I completely agree with this. We'll be tested early and often on Saturday. This is my biggest concern.

Sure, why not? Football is an entertainment competition... it's not like he's becoming a soldier or anything.

Haha. Sorry bro. One thing people need to remember though is that Don Shows "swayed" him from Ouachita to WMHS. Coach Shows is still close to Cam and is a very big LSU fan. Maybe he's worked/working on getting him to LSU.

Two different coaches. That's why I can't see a significant drop in the way we develop them. I think it's similar to the offensive system we run. It's an entire program instead of a unique design by a position coach. JMHO.

ETA: I think a lot of it has to do with mental development as well.
