There are a lot more than just that one... it's sad how blatant they have been about it for years.

The mentality should be, "Bama is the best at recruiting. What exactly do they do? How can we mimic what they do so that we can be successful too?" Can't fix something if you don't think you have a problem.
There are kids that say this about LSU. I wouldnt think they are too far from us. They arent going to turn on everyone that comes thru just like LSU wont. But their pitch will resonate with some more than others. Recency bias is always in play as well.

I wish LSU camp was now. He's just in such better shape than he was while at LSU. Maxed out the last week. Bench 225x13. Squat 350x9. Cleans 250x5. 40 was better at Bama as well. Just think he would've done even better than he did. Oh well. We shall see how it all plays out.

any worry that Bama generally features WR's in the 6'1"+ range?
Posted on 7/18/17 at 7:45 pm to Lester Earl
Same thing as LSU. New OCs looking for his skill set to feature in the slot. Neither really have that guy, well LSU will with TT transfer. Still...both have different offenses than before that are much better fits for him.

The whole Charger thing is dumb. Alabama gives student athletes around $6k/year as a cost of attendance stipend. That's $500/month (although the stipend is paid out over 9 months apparently). Anyone can lease a Dodge Charger for less than $200/month.

Gotta love TigerDroppings. Where facts get downvotes

You shouldn't worry about down votes on a message board so much..

Who said I was worried. It's funny

Does anyone actually know the details behind the whole charger thing? I've read on here before that a local dealer gives the players ridiculous deals so they can afford it with their inflated stipend, and you're saying they possibly lease them. The players are pretty blatant about it, posting pictures and whatnot so there has to be at least some legitimacy to it.

I don't know the details of the Alabama players, but it's really not hard to lease a vehicle with little to no cash and little to no credit history. Dodge advertises charger leases for 189/month. That leaves plenty of money for rims, tint and a sound system.

LSU has Derrick Dillon as well (slot guy)

Correct. The problem is most don't know that players get a ton of money now, legally. They get stipends for food, rent, etc. Bama's is more than LSU's by a good bit. Tennessee is the most in the SEC. I believe Tennessee's is well over a thousand more than LSU's.

That might account for the monthly payments for 9 months a year, assuming that they pretty much just use the money for that, but what about the other 3 months of the year and the down payment?

I don't know the details on Chargers and how much they cost. Above this was posted:

So that would be $2,268 a year. Bama's stipend is $5,386. So they would still have $3,100 left over. LSU only gives $3,800 to start.
Now, have they given kids cars in the past? I can't answer that because I don't have that knowledge. All I can tell you is of all the colleges that have recruited Slade, no one has mentioned giving him money/cars in any way.

I don't know about local deals, but the cheapest new Chargers are like 30 grand. I haven't see many pictures of those. Unless these kids somehow managed to build excellent credit before the age of 18, I doubt they are getting monthly payments less than $400 and down payments in the 2 to 3 grand range. That also doesn't account for insurance. I suppose they could lease it, but the theory that they are paying 189 a month is absolutely hilarious.
I posted the pic in jest, but I think questions about it are reasonable. I think it is pretty clear that somebody is helping them out beyond the COA. I suppose they could be getting help from their parents or other family, but that wouldn't fit with the reports that these families frequently are barely squeaking by themselves.

I agree with you. I just know that no one has offered anything extra at all. What the hell man??? Where's all this extra crap I've heard about forever?
