Bust and Gems - Glimpse at ‘23 Production

Was mindlessly scrolling through 247, decided to check out their overall team talent ratings, laughed at A&M being so high, and then clicked at LSU at #7 to revel in all of our talent. To my surprise, I had to REALLY scroll down to see some high impact guys, especially on offense.
Check this out:
Jayden Daniels- 0.9832, high 4* but basically a 5*, checks out
But then
Top 2 RBs this year:
Logan Diggs - 3* 0.8815 #35 RB
Josh Williams - 2* 0. 7856 #211 RB
Top 4 Pass Catchers:
Malik Nabers - low 4* 0.9112 #39 WR
Brian Thomas Jr. - 4* 0.9600 #13 WR (they have the wrong guy linked on 247 lol)
Kyren Lacy - 3* 0.8516 #157 WR
Mason Taylor - 3* 8850 #24 TE
So outside of JD and BTJ, the rest of our main offensive contributors were either 3* or less or outside of the top 30 for their position group. Just crazy considering how much of the 5* and 4* offensive “talent” I had to scroll by to get to these guys. I know I know, quantity of 3/2 stars, statistically 5* stars are more likely to pan out, but looking at our #1 high powered offensive lineup this season, you would think JD was surround by certified blue chips. Was not the case!
Not to mention certain defensive gems (Mekhi Wingo, Swinson, Jefferson, Shand, etc) and the so far overall busts (Emery, Harris, Maason, Sage) but truly the offensive side was where the most shock was given how OP we were this year. Out of all our top offensive players, we had two higher 4*, one low 4* and then four 3*/2*. None of the 9 RB/WR/TEs above a 0.9200 rating cracked the top contributors.
Makes me wonder- who are the gems of this class? Who will the future busts be? What does it take to rise above your rating?

Wasn’t Langlois a 5*.
Not even close...on 247 itself a low 4*...on 247 composite a high 3*. I still have him pegged as a spring transfer. Despite what some posters would have you believe, the secondary has sucked up too many scholarships. As of this fall, there would be 20 CBs and Ss on scholarship. If Bussey were to sign with LSU, 21.
