I get that its important to get the top players in your state, but is it really important for us to get Harris??

I dont think so. I think Jennings is > Harris anyways. At the moment, QB isnt a spot we must fill. We got Mett this year, then Rivers, Jennings, and Rettig for the near future. So, Harris wouldnt be here until after Mett goes. That still leaves us with Rivers, and Jennings and Rettig would be sophomores. Dont really need to immediately address the QB spot. Weve got 2 year span to get a QB for the future. Doesnt necessarily have to be now.

And I think Harris is a solid QB prospect. Not bashing this kid at all. Just dont think we MUST get him.

I don't think he is a MUST. However, I would love to have him in the class. He is a class act from what I gather and would help be the lead recruiter for the remaining in-state guys. I am a fan of taking a QB in each class too.

We will know where he's going on Monday, and he decides Thursday.

I don't think Harris is a must-get, but a QB of some sort should be a part of the class. Doesn't necessarily have to be a stud given the roster at this point. Next year is more of a priority.

at least one will be a RS-FR.

I agree and have been consistent in Harris. When some have said a "MUST HAVE", I have said, no he isn't. QB is NOT a huge concern for LSU after signing 2 highly rated ones in the last class...high or higher ranked than Harris BTW.

Having said that, I do think he is a "nice to have" and definitely would take him as part of say a 25 signing class.

I get that. I agree he would be good to get. But, not like we must have him. We have some flexibility at QB for the next few years and dont really need to address it this year.

And, if he doesnt come here, leaves a spot open. Which is always good considering the players we could potentially get.

And obviously 1 of Retting and Jennings would be a RS. Which gives 1 of them an extra year and gives us a longer window to get a QB for the future.

Why aren't yall high on Rettig? I think the kid could be a baller with a little bit of coaching up. He's got that gunslinger mentality that alot of good QBs have

The rational ones understand he was suppose to be getting ready for his prom this spring so its too early to tell. Jennings is just special so everyone expects rettig to be the same.

I think rettig will be very good and a redshirt would be perfect for him.

Everyone is very high on Rettig. Jennings just had the better spring and looks to be adjusting quicker than Rettig at the moment. Everyone is very high on both of them

Great point on the "spot open". Clearly, this is the best year for high quality NUMBER of prospects I can ever remember...not just LA is better than usually obviously but Texas is much better than it was last year. Add in Illinois, Florida, and North Carolina in particular along with getting back into Mississippi, and you don't want to waste a spot THIS year. Normally, I'm a big "offer a scholarship to a kicker" guy, but NOT this year....too loaded. Soooo, if LSU doesn't take a QB, take another LBer like Garrett AND Young if they both want to commit. Or take an extra DL since plenty are on the board or an extra secondary guy like a M Johnson or someone like that if it works out.

Ok thanks. I only ask because the only threads I look at on here are Harris ones, and I've seen some people already giving up on Rettig or not even mentioning him

Because all eyes are on jennings to take over after this year which leads the likeliness of rivers transferring.

Since rettig didn't look like jennings in the spring, he becomes somewhat of an afterthought at times imo. And a redshirt will help him get even more comfortable after his surgery of his torn ACL his junior year in high school (year 2 is when people feel close to 100% ) even though he played very well his senior year.
