Blackmon

I see rivals posted some film on this guy. Last time I was reading on here, no one had really seen any of his film. I don't really watch mutch tape of o-lineman so I don't exactly know what I'm looking for. Those who know this stuff, what is your current opinion of Blackmon as a commit?

You may have been watching the wrong side of the ball.

Where do you live in Chicago?
It's hard to deduce anything on that Blackmon film.
The team they are playing is patently horrible. The guy he is matched up with is about 170 pounds... maybe.
Trying to gauge him... he looks like he can really run. Doesn't appear to have great technique. He basically just stands up and bullrushes people. Though he did throw in a spin move once.
The most you can say is that at least he dominates the shitty competition.

Lol. Agreed. Was thinking about the potential switch to OT while typing.

Looks exactly like everyone on here said before...a questionable offer who is a project right now.

Ukrainian Village. Great city but I will never get over the cold. I nearly froze solid today walking from the el stop to the office.

My take is that we needed DL and he was one of the best at camp. The staff was getting a little desperate for DL and gave him his only other offer besides Troy...

Nice, this is my first winter here.
Do you make it to Gamekeeper's for the games?

Sometimes. Probably went to about three games there this year.

Same here, caught UGA, Auburn and the bowl. I was 2-0 until the Bowl. Damn.

I think Blackmon's got solid athleticism for an interior lineman. He's got to be refined a lot but he has physical gifts that appear to give him some upside.
How much upside..I don't know.

Ball up...
Just kidding. It's a great city, but the winters are a little tough. I mean I guess it will be 5 tomorrow, but somehow I manage to survive!
As far as Blackmon, it sounds like he's tough to evaluate because he doesn't play very good competition.

I am unsure of unsure offer,

He is quick off the ball and changes direction very well. He has a lot of athleticism.
Not sure why people even worry about the competition, it has no bearing on a prospect. You look at a guy's athleticism and punch, and he has a lot of that.
He's well worth a scholarship IMO.
My question is why do we keep offering guys about the same size? Blackmon, Marsh, Downs, Brockers, and Logan are all about the same size. All undersized a little for DT. Where is the beef there?
I guess they think that Davenport, Freak, and Hunter will cure that.

I worry that many big schools didn't offer.
Either we missed, or everyone else missed?
Dunno, I figure TCU and BSU have a bunch of no names

They didn't offer bc he's from Selma and they had no film. They also didn't bc Alabama and Auburn are about to have top 5 classes anyway.

Will he EVER play at LSU considering the crop of DT LSU will land next year? Especially if he's a project?

I don't see why not. He may not be a 3 year starter but if he rounds the technical aspects of his game he'll be a good rotational player. Good depth at DT and DE was the foundation of our defense for the last 10 years.

Yeah, I think that's what earned him his offer.
He's certainly an athlete. I was impressed with how fluid he looked running to the ball.
But you can't determine a damn thing about how he stacks up against competition.
