Plus is all those guys are gonna be eligible to return if they choose. Doubt Deculus or Ingram will but Shanahan could very well. Just not positive how his situation works being a grad transfer but I'd assume his year doesn't count either.

Everybody gets an extra year whether they play or not.

Get tired of hearing the "in-state school didn't prioritize a recruit, so don't understand why we settled for him" argument.
Evaluating high school athletes not an exact science, so different programs going to have different opinions of kids talent. Not to mention, evaluators generally looking for specific attributes/skillsets that best fits their system. And perhaps, most importantly, different programs place different emphasis on non-athletic traits of a player (for example, the character, integrity of an athlete is something LSU and O prioritize in kids they recruit).
So, at the end of the day, who gives a $h!t of some other school didn't recruit one of our commits that hard. Trust O and staff to evaluate effectively!!

We will only have two tight ends in 2021.
Need possibly two more.

I’m a little confused why the need to have four (4) TEs on the roster? I’ve been hearing that the plan is two (2) in 2021 class (which will result in 4 for the 2021 season). Seemed like last year we almost exclusively used one (1), Moss. We don’t run two (2) TE sets much anymore do we? Would appreciate any explanation on this topic......

Well Moss stayed healthy all season if I recall. He also was very versatile as a blocker and a receiver.
If someone gets hurt, we need another.
If someone can't block and catch, we need another.
If we want to run 2 TE sets, we need another.
More TEs is fine with me.

How sage Ryan isn't a 5* is crazy to me.

I’m always wrong about scholarship par levels, but 5 is good for me if we dabble in two te sets.
By the way,
-had pettigrew been healthy or
-had we had arik Gilbert a year early
-had tk McLendon been some phenom Juco TE
I’m pretty sure bradysminger would have tossed some two TE sets to open even more options up.

Gotcha, thanks for insight.

Moffitt and Storrs are TEs. Thats 4. I have no issue taking 2 TEs. Just don't see how you fit 2 in everyone's dream classes they're concocting.
So essentially it seems we want with the last 10 spots
Thomas
Leigh
Foreman
Smith
Ryan
Wiggins
RB
2 TEs
2 OL
LB
CB
S
That's 14. Maybe my math skills aren't up to par but last I checked 14 doesn't fit into a space of 10. Eliminate 4 of the above and tell me who we'd take if our choice. My stance is if we take 2 TEs it's because we missed fairly badly elsewhere.

No clue exactly but LJ Johnson, and the 2 instate kids everyone seems to love at least. We haven't even pursued Johnson really and he's very highly ranked and a legacy. Our RB board seems to have been Wheaton, Donovon Edwards and the Auburn commit for months now.

I don't understand passing on lj johnson

For starters you take out a te and a rb.
We only need one te and one rb this year
You can also get by with only the 1 elite corner and stock up with 2 elite guys next year and a nickel safety type
That's 3 right there.
They better add another top of the line safety

It's weird
I love Kevin like any true LSU fan, but let's not just assume he's a recruiting expert. He's very new to all this and it's reasonable to assume he's not a seasoned recruiter and talent evaluator like his predecessors

Completely agree with this, particularly part about two (2) TEs only if big miss somewhere else. I just don’t see a taking more TEs than RBs two years in a row. That doesn’t make sense to me, but we shall see. I will say that I like the idea of expanding that Olive Branch, MS pipeline (where J. Shead & X. Hill are from), as I believe they have a 5* DL coming up the following year.
