Biggest needs remaining 2021Posted by nola2269

We have 3 spots left for 2021. With the entire OL returning (pending dare) how you you use the final 3 spots. We can't take grad transfers so wilson is out. Personally I would look for 1 OL or OL transfer with multiple years remaining, Brian Thomas or one big bodied WR transfer, and 1 nickel/safety transfer.
Outside of those specific needs, I would hold any spot for 2022
What do yall think?

Per TOS, C. Raymond is pursuing Dontae Balfour pretty hard.
Balfour is a 3* CB (No. 740) out of Florida. He is 6’2” & 170 lbs. Typical long and lean corner build that Corey looks for in his CBs.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that Balfour was strong lean to Auburn (with insiders predicting he would sign w/ AU during ESP), and then re-opened things upon the firing of Gus bus.

I would think Balfour, Thomas and Moko are the top three targets. If we don't get Moko, we will get another OL. If we don't get Thomas or Balfour or both I think we hold on to those spots. You really just don't know who is going to pop up in the portal, it's wise to keep a spot open. If someone doesn't pop up, you have another scholarship for next year.
OL and CB. The safety haul we just got is outstanding, so I doubt we take another due to bigger needs. Thomas and Davis have a spot if they want in due to talent and their decisions are needed to determine how we end up.

Are there any total game changers in the portal currently?
I've looked at it a bit, and there are so many players there it's hard to drill down.
We need a CB that can start in place of Stingley in 2022, so a transfer with two years left would be key.

Personally, I'd like 2 OL and Davis. If we can't get Davis, then 3 OL. I've given up on Brian Thomas Jr.

Just FYI CatfishJohn, TOS published an update on Bri and Thomas yesterday and it was very promising.
Basically said that things have shifted considerably in LSU’s favor b/c the family has become much more open and receptive to LSU. Another important note was that as signing day approaches, it’s become more apparent that proximity to Home is more important than originally thought.
Lastly, it states the authors opinion you’re pretty confidently that it’s an LSU v. TA&M battle (with Bama representing more of the dark horse candidate).

I don't think Bama wants Brian Thomas anymore. They have like 4 top 10 WRs and a full class.
And that's great it's looking better for us, I just hope that isn't because we are catering to his father's demands.

Amen to that, Catfish. I completely agree with you, that is not an avenue we need to be heading down for any recruit....

I think we pull BTJ.

Palaie Gaoteote LB USC
Tyrique Stevenson CB Georgia
Are 2 guys in the portal that could be game changers. Seems Stevenson is expected to end up back home at Miami though.

This should be the headline on damn near every recruitment
Also- package deals never actually happen
With the OL and WR returning, I would make every effort to get Raesjon to campus. With the other 2 spots, I would go for any big fish available (BTJ included), no matter the position. Land 1-2 of those, and leave a spot or 2 open. I don't think Diggs is a bad option, if he's willing to play defense, as a spot.
1. Raesjon
2. BTJ or spot open

Definitely would look at him and Wanya Morris from Tennessee. And truthfully, I'd kick the tires on Tank Bigsby from Auburn if he's still out there.

1) Thomas - need a big body WR
2) Moko - need another OL
3) Davis - need another LB who can stay on the field on 3rd down
If we can't get any or all of these guys, I hope O just waits for the transfer portal or saves the ship for the next recruiting class.
