ProjectP2294, I can see how we have de/dl rated higher on our board than melvin jones but what lb
(other than Beckwidth) is higher than melvin jones. any thoughts

Beckwith is the only one for sure, as he is the only one holding an offer. I was basically just using that to express how versatile he is, and even if he's the 2nd LB, the 4th DE, and the 4th DT, just being able to project at all three means he would be a valuable addition. And he could probably play FB if necessary. And would have to be threat on punt fakes if he played upback on punt protection.

Baton Rouge is closer to Pensacola than Tuscaloosa is. Mapquest it. Baton Rouge just takes less time to get to and it depends which way you go

I agree with you guys about Jones and will continue to think and say we're making a mistake not offering him until we do, which I think will happen at some point. I'd personally prefer him to Beckwith at LB(that's another story) but mainly agree that his versatilty is what makes him special. He could legitimately end up at 5 different positions and be good at them all(LB,DE,DT,FB,TE; 6 if you figure that if he's big enough for DT then he's big enough for OL). Perfect core player which is what most of the team is made up of. I think there are better options at all of those position(aside from maybe FB) but none that could play them all like him. That increases his value imo. I understand grades are an issue but why not just give him the same option that we gave John Thomas last year. Hold off signing until the grades are in and if they never are then go prep or juco. My thought is that the staff will eventually give him that option but are waiting for other dominoes to fall before publicizing it. He gives the satff an added advantage in that if his grades are truly as bad as implied, he could be a guy asked to wait until after signing day and not effect any other guys on the board. Some may see it as distasteful for the staff to mislead some guys but in recruiting it's fair game.

Not sure where to post it but didn't want to start a thread but DT Scott Pagano from HI named us his leader today. Good looking kid on film and has exploded in recruiting. Has offers from almost everyone.

That's great news, I thought he'd be all SC after they offered this week. His other finalists didn't really scare me. Fenokah(sp) should seal the deal on his OV.

Tons of recruiting analysts are the source. He announced it on Twitter I believe but I got it on 247's Twitter timeline. It was originally tweeted by Adam Gorney and retweeted by Brian Perronj. Both Rivals Guys I think(I know Perroni is). He's not in BR today.

Is Tim Williams going to be there is my question? I would assume so but does anyone know for sure?

My sources are at Tiger Stadium at Superfest. I texted them to see if they could let me know.

He was definitely supposed to go, him and Brossette. Hopefully Brumfield was there as well. I think he'll eventually earn an offer.

Thanks.

As for the picture, either Davenport is much taller than he's listed, some of the names with the picture are wrong or some of these kids have seriously fudged their heights. If Davenport is 6'5 then in no way is that guy next to him Melvin Jones or Jones isn't 6'3. That's more than a 2 inch difference or my eyes are really fricking bad.

Jesus. I hope he gets a fire under his arse at some point, because by all accounts, he's a good dude. But damn, he's an effing giant.

if you ever see recruits or our players in person you'd know that heights are always exaggerated

Oh I definitely understand that they are exaggerated but none of them look a legit 6'2 even compared to him. Jones is directly beside him and is at minimum 3 inches shorter, then Baker who is listed 6'2 and people that have seen him in person say legit 6'2 and maybe closer to 6'3. Down to the end you have Patterson and Lawson who look about the same height with Patterson listed 6'3 and Lawson 6'4. Davenport is noticeably taller than all of them and by more than 2 inches. Was just saying that either he's taller than listed or they are nowhere near they're listed heights.
