Houston Bates
According to Rivals.com
Ht: 6-3
Wt: 240 lbs
Forty: 4.7 secs
Bench max: 340 pounds
Squat max: 480 pounds
Vertical: 29 inches
Shuttle: 4.3 secs
According to Scout.com
Ht: 6-2
Wt: 218 lbs
Forty: 4.8 secs
According to ESPN
Ht: 6'2"
Wt: 230 lbs.
Rating: 78
Bates comes across as a get-it-done type player. Not the biggest or most athletic kid, but combines good play with physicality and a motor. He could be a steal for a program and develop into a good, dependable college defender. Could also help on special teams.
Sounds like an over achiever to me. Every program needs kids who will give their all to succeed.

Hey guys I'm a long time fan of LSU. All my family lives throughout Louisiana and several have gone to LSU. I've been following LSU and their recruiting for a few years now and here's what I've noticed. Miles seems to always have at least a couple guys in every class that are true, blue-collar, big 10 type, hard nosed, over achieving football players. Personally, I think this is to encourage the rest of the team... To raise the bar, so to speak. Y'all just named a few in the past... Hester, Johns, etc. What do y'all think?

Steven Ridley is another example of a hard nosed, over achieving football recruit. Miles likes these kind of kids.

Hes the Josh Johns of this year
Good deal. Or the next Jacob Hester or Ron Sancho.
i one who thinks(esp after talking to some of the coaches on sat at 7on7) that Johns was under rated!

Another thing worth mentioning... Let's say Bates is "average" to the average high school football player in Louisiana. Doesn't this then prove to them that by playing and working your arse off that you can make your dream come true of getting a scholly to a badass program like LSU? If you ask me this sends a damn good message across the state. Besides, look at the film. He's at war out there y'all! He's not playing a game. He's not showboating in anyway, He looks like he's close to loosing his mind. haha. It's AWESOME!!

I am sorry, but he remeinds me of former LSU DE Brian West when he was 5A All-State for West Monroe in 1998.

"Bates is average. Nobody on the team thought LSU would even consider him. He is slow and not that big. He works hard but thats about it."
Average. Let's see, he was All District, All Metro, and District Defensive MVP as a Junior. MVP at the Scout Combine (great film of him smokin' La'el Collins on Scout's site, BTW). Slow- ran a 4.65 40 and 4.1 5/10/5 at LSU's camp.

So i was worried envy could be leaking from the kids mouth so i asked if he liked the kid.
"One of my better friends on the team I just think he got really lucky to get an offer."
With friends like that, who needs enemies? Jealous is an evil thing.
If you have been trying to get the low down on this kid for a month and still think he's average, then either you have some serious cognitive issues, or your sources are limited to complete imbeciles. Other than the usual carping because he's white or not ideal size and doesn't have enough stars or come from a football powerhouse, most people who have actually seen him play ball are favorably impressed- including the coaching staff at LSU.
As for your buddy's retarded nephew (if he does exist), he should grow a pair and share his concerns with Houston face to face. And maybe you can give him some pointers on getting through life with the brain capacity of a freakin' squirrel.

Anyone else like to ban the term "motor"? Anyway, it does look odd that Bates only has offers from FIU and SMU. There are no highlights on rivals that I was hoping to look at.

Wow wolf a little flustered. So now your telling me that this kid might not exist. If he does exist then he has to be motivated by jealousy.
So you are the talent expert that we must turn to when trying to figure something out.
You know nothing more than the rest of us much less "the Kid" so take your small man complex and enlarged man clit and eat it

I think the kid would know his own talent, don't you? Ain't no coincidence he only posts in Bates threads...

Bates is anyting but average. Looks like he could dominate on special teams next year.

Just like Baker was cracking some skulls last season on ST.
