I know you guys have a top 15 class in BB. Will it be enough to pull you guys out of what is sure to be an 0-15 sec season(could be 0-16 but you have a chance on your last game)?
I think with your freshmen and your recurring depth, LSU will be able to go 6-10 next near. Thats not a bad step.

Malcolm White says 10-6 is more like it.

So LSU is going to make history by going from 0-15/16 to 10-6 making the biggest one season turnaround in history?
Realistic? I dont know about that one.

Well they did just go from winning the SEC to not winning a game in the SEC. 10-6 is certainly possible.

10 more wins than this year is not possible?
Anyway I have no idea how many we win.

going from 0 to 10 is a huge step never accomplished before in the SEC or Big12 (probably true for other conferences but not sure)

We will be a completely different team next year as well, just like Kentucky is this year, but not as good.

Tennessee went from last place in the SEC to second place and a two seed in the tourney the year Pearl took over. That was a pretty big turnaround, and we definitly got 10 more SEC wins than we had the year before.

I think alot of that will depend on attrition from other teams in the conference (and the West in particular), but I can see next season being an 8 win (give or take 1) conference season in 2010-11.
You are only set to lose Spencer after next season so if they can come together and improve as a team than the 2011-12 season should be a good time to make a run at a West title.

It's easier to be much improved in basketball with new faces on the team. Freshmen make big impacts, just look at Kentucky.

It says 6-10 to 12-4 for tenn. I am not sure if that is the year he took over,2005. That is only 6 win difference.
The difference between Kentucky and LSU is kentucky had the number 1 recruiting class with all studs, and they were coming off a team that was still 8-8.
I doubt LSU will go 8-8 next year, but if you do that would be a huge step. Your freshmen will be good, but not great. They will be enough to win you a couple games, but 8 might be a stretch. You are in the easier west, so you have a shot if everything goes your way.

Right and we are around a top 10 class with our best big man becoming eligible. We will be much improved. We will have better better scorers at pg(stringer), sf(Derenbecker), and c/pf(Malcolm White)
And better defense for that matter with White being down low and a shot blocker, and better rebounder than anyone on the team.

UVA was 10-15 last year and are now 14-7. When Bobby Knight took over at Texas Tech they went from 9-19 to 23-9.
Granted, those are when new coaches took over. However, basketball programs are easier to turnaround with a great class or great player. I think TJ has/is building a base for the next four to five years with guys who will be there that long and then hopefully he will add the star players in who can elevate the teams play.

There is no doubt you will be better, but KU, UF, Vann, and UT should beat you 3 out of 4 at least. Then you have to go 7-5 for the rest of the league. That is a long way from being the doormat of the sec. Two years you will have a much better chance at it.

You also have to take into consideration that we're talking about the SEC West. It's not like they are playing a Big East schedule.

The team next year is very capable of going 8-8 if not a little better. They are just really lacking depth this year and are very young. We're bringing in 5 or 6 new guys next year.

You are bringing in (to my knowledge) 4 guys. This is a very good class but not elite. Three of these guys will be 4 year players but they arent game changers. Beasley, Durant, Oden, Wall are game changers.
To win 10 games, you will almost certainly have to be a top 20 team, is that going to be LSU next year?

4 guys with the possibility of another pg and White will be eligible. That's 5 or 6 new guys that will change the face of our team.

In all likelihood we are talking Stringer, Miller, Turner, Derenbecker, Courtney and White coming onboard for next season. It's not dynamic, but it's a solid shot in the arm for sure.
