Has anyone heard of Jasper Watt?
The 6'3 or so Guard out of Albany who moved from Cali?
He is a Junior who can do it all... except shoot. :/
Kid can handle the ball, supposedly is a superb passer and I am told has freakish athleticism.
Note: I will be coaching him this summer and was told the number one priority is developing his shot.

I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see Trent make a trip to Kansas to take a look at this kid.

Is there a connection? I don't think LSU has the clout just yet to venture into the midwest and snag a guy that has offers from all of the midwest schools, unless there is some previous connection.

No. No connection. Only SEC school on his list right now is Vandy for academic reasons. Southern Cal was here a week or so ago. He has pretty much become a national recruit this season. Initially, he was focused mainly on academics (Harvard and Vandy), but word is that he is opening his options up now that interest in his athletic skills has increased. Unless Kansas offers,I don't think that he is dead set on staying in the Midwest.

That's him, thanks derek. I read something about his performance at a camp in Mississippi and it basically said he was a high major type of athlete but his skills needed to be developed.

Yeah, if we can get his shooting up and he defends well this summer... probably grades as a mid-major prospect.

Will Derrick Taylor play AAU or his senior season in the America

I cover Madison Prep sports. Jarell Martin is now ranked #20 in ESPNU's Super 60 for the c/o 2013.
I interviewed Jarell for my sports blog yesterday, before their first round playoff game (game audio at link. Good, well-grounded kid.
I think he would fit the mold of the kind of player that disciplined, no-nonsense Trent Johnson is looking for.

That's Jarell, alright. Let's hope he's wearing that sweatshirt in the Fall of 2013!

LSU seems to be in good shape with former missouri commit Tyrek Coger LINK

Thanks for that info. He's a stud. I have him on my list out front, but I wasn't sure if his interest level. Good stuff.
Posted on 2/23/12 at 9:36 pm to Bubba Hotep
yeah looks like we have a real shot at him

Coger is interesting from a position standpoint. Many sites actually list him at center, including Scout. He is a little short for center, although he is listed at 6-8 in some places and is only a junior. He is a wide-body and is probably close to JOB's size.
With Jarrell Martin a high priority and likely a PF -- recent reports have him at close to 6-9, I am wondering what we are recruiting Coger at.
247sports.com lists Coger at 6-8, 240. That is plenty big enough to be a college center. Also, when he was committed to Missouri, they listed him as a center.

Are Nick and Ryan Hammink on anybody's radar? I haven't seen anything about them on here.
Posted on 2/28/12 at 8:41 am to Bmyers1979
There is not much info out there about them. They were born in 1995 in Baton Rouge, which makes them Class of 2013. They are both about 6-5. They are apparently enrolled at the Canarias Basketball Academy with Shane, but they must play on a junior team or something, because they are not on any rosters I have seen or been in any boxscores. I will add them to the list just for the hell of it.
So now we have:
Shane Hammink: 2012
Ryan Hammink: 2013
Nick Hammink: 2013
Also, their mother is Rhonda Hammink of Ouachita Parish. (maiden name unknown)
