yeah, if academics are really a big part of his decision then those are great schools. good for him.

If my kid was offered a full scholarship to Vandy or Stanford, that would be hard to turn down -- and I'm an LSU alum. If I had no connection, I would jump all over that.
Stanford, maybe. While Vandy is a great school, I don't think it's in the class of schools that would make me go there if offered just because of academics. If I'm going to school strictly for academics and can get there with a scholarship for some sport, Vandy wouldn't even crack my list to be honest.

Martin should be cutting his list to 5 or so pretty soon, right?

It really depends on your intended major. Vanderbilt is a damn fine school. I wouldn't spend the money to go there for engineering when the SEC is full of good engineering schools, but their economics and biomedical research programs are fantastic.
ETA - He wants to major in electrical engineering, so that helps us out. Stanford is hard to beat, though.

Is it Damien or Damian Jones? I think his name is misspelled in the OP.

Morning guys. Wanted to share some info that I heard over the weekend, so take it for what it's worth. As we all know Odoh has to complete one more semester of class then will enroll at LSU. LSU is fighting hard for him to be elligable to play right away, but not sure if it's going to work out. The kid from Iowa St did not make the grades (have no clue whats going to happen with him). Also heard that Louisville is doing EVERYTHING it can to try and pull Jerrell Martin out of state. Again I am NOT saying this is all FACT but it is comming from someone with strong ties to the prgram. It will be very interesting to see how all of this works out.

I've seen people with Louisville gear on at Martin's high school games. He has spoken well of them also in stuff I see online. So, it shouldn't shock LSU fans if he goes to Louisville. I would think that OSU is a serious threat too because of Pierre's ties to Louisiana.

This is from Scout on Kendal Harris' commitment to USC. The key quote is bolded. That situation does not exist at LSU.
quote:
Harris pledges to USC
On Thursday, 2013 Richardson (Texas) Berkner point guard Kendal Harris arrived in Los Angeles for adidas Nations and immediately headed to USC's campus for an unofficial visit.
About 36 hours later, he was sold, as he informed Scout.com on Saturday morning that he was committing to the Trojans.
"I decided USC," Harris said. "K.O. (Kevin O'Neill) seems like he has a plan for me. There's a wide open spot at the point guard position and I can see myself doing big things and they see me doing big things also."
The visit that Harris took helped solidify his decision.
"It was nice," he said. "It was pretty much what I pictured. Nice weather, it's in L.A. and you can't really go wrong with that. The campus was really nice, I loved it."
Harris, who said that he hopes to bring Soma Eto, Jordan Mickey and Karviar Shepherd with him to USC, has high expectations for his career at USC.
"Big things," Harris said. "The Final Four and championship."

I have not heard this, but if true and Godfrey is not eligible, we are fricked.

That's what I was told, again not stating this as a fact, but the source is very involved with the program.
