Basketball Recruit, Emareyon McDonald Class of 2021???

Emareyon McDonald is a sophomore at Red River High School in Coushatta Louisiana same school Bennie Logan attended. This week Georgetown was in town to watch him practice and made him a full offer. Any idea if he is on LSU and Coach Will Wade's radar? I live a town over and our school our big time rivals...I've seen him play and he is a baller.

Wade has seen him play recently. I have as well. He has not been offered yet.
He’s a good player, but very small.

I know nothing about him but he's listed as a PG and 6'1" as a high school sophomore. I would think he'd easily be tall enough plus he will probably fill out some over the next few years.

Yes not the biggest but he will definitely grow. Any idea if the interest is there if he continues to grow and improve? He seems like a humble kid.
Like I said their school and my former school are big time rivals and both top 6 in the state this yr always a sell out crowd so this year for our home game vs them it will be played at Prather Coliseum at Northwestern, I'll see him again then and post an update.

Do YOU understand the average height of a college point guard?
You people are idiots saying a 6'1 sophomore is too shirt to be a college point guard

You remind me why I dont post as much these days. I've seen a lot of kids grow an inch or more from their Sophmore year in high school to college.

6’1” is plenty y’all for a PG if he’s got the skills.
Wade must think he’s not quite there yet.

I don't think he's 6-1, but I was speaking more of his build. He's very thin.

Saying someone is small, does not equal saying they are too short to be a college point guard. He has a slight build. He will definitely be a college point guard somewhere, perhaps even at LSU.

The major problem I see is his shot delivery. He shoots from the hips, the ball isn't over his head but extended in the front. I've seen this with a lot of young kids. They can't shoot with the wrist so they push the ball upward instead and shooting with more wrist action over the head. At 6 foot, 6 foot 1, you are not going to be able to get that shot off against taller competition in major college basketball. Reggie Miller had a similar way of shooting, but he was 6 foot 7, big difference. This guy needs a lot of work to be SEC ready. As far as Georgetown offering a scholarship, if Mcdonald was a senior, they wouldn't sign him. There's a big difference between signing a senior and offering a soph. Just ask Terrance Broadway. A lot of young underclassmen are offered that are not ready for the next level. They get offered because they have potential to develop and being offered makes an impression that may be the difference between signing with a team and not. They are not all offered because they are college ready at the time. McDonald is not college ready, not the SEC. McDonald has a long way to go to get there. A lot of work ahead.

And one of my main points to posting is that he is only a sophmore...yes his shot his different I thought that day 1 but it definitely works...and has worked for others. I say he is a instate kid worth keeping an eye on. Last yr they took in undefeated Rayville in the State Semifinals and as a freshman he took charge and almost lead them to a win, he has other qualities other than a scorer.

The announcer the other night said “if you’re good enough, you’re y’all enough” when referring to our present PG, who is sub-6ft. I don’t know if this kid is TWaters good, but I’m not sure Wade not offering him because of his height is the legit excuse here. It very well could be, but we’ve seen sub-6ft PG do well (Tyler Eulis is the most recent name that comes to mind) in the SEC.

The potential is def there. I was just pointing out areas he needs to work on. IDK what percentage he shoots from 3, but he has a good shot. Unless he grows several inches he will need to change his shot delivery. Pistol shot like that when he was younger too. Obviously he changed it over time. The young guy has skills, there's no doubt about it. Worth keeping an eye on.

Scientifically, on average it's between ages 16-18.
Personally, I grew 2 inches after graduating high school. I beleive Tyrus Thomas grew a few inches his senior year resulting in an LSU offer.
