Johnny Jones doing work so far.
Didn't really know much about the guy to start..not enough to form an opinion anyway, but man, he's got LSU in a better position for the future already than Trent Johnson did in all his years here.

he was Xs and Os man for Dale Brown "Master Recruiter and Motivator"... looks like some of the charm rubbed off on him.

Does this mean I can finally get excited about LSU basketball again?
Welcome aboard, Mr. Martin.

anyone think getting a hometown 5* guy will help us with the hometown football guys. ie williams and beckwith. if so, jj deserves a raise and a big one if he helps get RSJ also.

Works at LSU.

I don't know that Martin's influence will extend outside of basketball.
I do think it will energize other recruits. Possibly in the '14 class.
Not to mention the studs in the '16 class that go to U-High.
Future is bright.

What are Martin's actual measureables? In some publications he's 6'9", 220. In others he's 6'7", 210. I'm excited to have him as a tiger regardless, just curious.

Split the difference and that is probably pretty close.

Totally echo these sentiments.
Gotta love LSU being on the main page for the recruiting rankings LINK
as well as the recruiting homepage LINK

LSU -- basketball powerhouse? If head coach Johnny Jones' recruiting success in the Class of 2013 has anything to say about it, maybe so. And while the LSU hoops team may be a long way from the success of the football team, the Tigers are certainly headed in the right direction on the hardwood. In his first full recruiting season at LSU, Jones has secured three ESPN 100 commitments. The LSU graduate and former North Texas head coach now owns commitments from the top player in his state (No. 14 overall prospect Jarrell Martin) and ventured into Texas (No. 46 Jordan Mickey) and Georgia (No. 66 Tim Quarterman) for his other pledges. Add in juco big man Deng Deng and LSU now has a recruiting class ranked in the top 10 for the Class of 2013. Martin is the most coveted recruit to commit to the Tigers since Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who was ranked as the nation's No. 13 player when he pledged to the Tigers in 2004. If Jones was hired to improve recruiting, Martin's pledge is proof that he's delivering.

He looks better in person. Madison Prep is in a horrible district, so below are the local games of interest to catch them. Each of the opponents will be at minimum good playoff teams.
12/11 @ Glen Oaks (Martin was there as a freshman)
12/15 @ Brusly (coached by LSU alum Harold Boudreaux)
1/5/13 @ Scotlandville (5A champs have transfer Brian Brigewater/Damian Jones/Trelun Banks, et al)
1/9/13 @ Parkview (James Thompson, is a 6'8" PF for 2014 who Rivals says LSU has offered)
