Baseball recruiting?

Why is it so hard to find info on potential recruits?
Posted on 1/25/15 at 10:40 am to Ponchy Tiger
It's not. Perfect Game usually has info on them, so does Google.

There's not as much publicity on recruiting because of the MLB draft. Try perfectgame.org, that has about every player you could imagine if they are a major talent.

Yep. The best players usually try their hand at the league so it's not w big debacle about their HS decisions. Every now and then someone will get major coverage but it isn't like football where all the best players HAVE to pick a college.
You can find plenty of info on the recruits, though. They play more games. so stats are constantly changing. Harder to keep up with unless you've got your eye on certain players, imo. Talent sticks out, though.

Bump! Are there any studs in this incoming class that can make an immediate impact next year with all the guys we are losing?
Posted on 4/8/15 at 11:22 am to Howyouluhdat
Cole McKay is slotted around the same area as Mac marshal was last year and if somehow he chooses college over pros he would be a immediate impact starter

We're bringing in a lot of JUCO players, including a power hitting first baseman from Delgado.
I think the biggest offensive impacts next year will come from the development of guys like Papierski and Deichmann though.

I would say that many of the players from this years freshman class will be he one's making impacts next year in positions where players leave. Our SP will be sick next year with Latz hopefully joining the rotation with Lange and Poche. The jordan twins, Byrd and Deichmann will play a lot next year.

We do have a commit from arguably the best player in the country, but him making it country is a pipe dream. He's a SP.
Edit: He's 2016 sorry.

Awesome article on McKay and LSU recruiting. I realize it's from last season, but still a nice quick read.

Briefly highlighting the '15 class, it's not a deep crop with the amount of quality players that '14 had. (I still think every one of the 12 guys from the '14 class will have major roles during their college careers.)
The top guy will be Cole McKay who's an extremely physical and hard throwing RHP. Dominated a few showcases last year and will be a risk to go in the draft, fastball topped out at 95mph. After that there's Nick Bush a LHP who will be a great reliever in the pen for what LSU already possess. After that you start getting into JUCO guys.
Position players wise you bring in both Brody Wofford, and O'Neal Lockridge who play SS and figure to push the now true freshmen for starting spots. You then have the 3 guys at Delgado who are tearing the cover off the ball in Cody Ducote OF .477, Bryce Adams 1B .423, and Cole Freeman 2B .371. All guys who will be juniors next season and I believe Adams starts at 1B day one, the kind of target LSU has not had since Matt Clark.
All in all I don't expect this class to get the national accolades but it addresses depth in the bullpen and quanitity of position players as well as JUCO's when the mass exodus begins after Junes draft.

What Do The Pitchers Look Like After McKay?
Posted on 4/8/15 at 2:12 pm to Adam4848
Adam, what are your thoughts on LSU's outfield situation going forward?
Maineri has always done such an excellent job of reloading the outfield with rangy, athletic outfielders that make big play after big play. It just seems like going forward the outfield will look pretty undersized next year outside of Fraley

Next year will be light, I agree and it concerns me why he's not taking in a few more guys this year even if they present a draft risk. Fraley, Jordan, and Ducote will still form a very potent outfield but after that the depth dwindles. No cause for panic rolling into next season; however if he doesn't load up in the '16 class then there is legit concern.

After McKay and Bush there are a few projects in Taylor, Gilbert, and Breaux who are guys they will bring along at their own pace. Pitching is a position Mainieri and Dunn can afford to go light on this year with the absurdly large talent pool of quality arms in the 5 freshmen arms currently.
