Still, a stud is a stud in any class.
To me, LSU used to have a bit of a blind spot on small school athletes who were not playing their future position (maybe they were QBs, or played both ways in simplified schemes). Under Saban and Miles, that has improved quite a bit, I think.
A big part is LSU does a good job getting them into camp where they can evaluate them. This is true of the Kennon Fontneots too. If the 5A overachiever can come to LSU's camp and continue to dominate the competition, I'm sure he'll get an offer. If the 1A stud comes to camp and takes it to the 5A players, he'll get an offer too. Happens all the time.
And I'm not just talking about kids from Curtis, UHigh and Evangel either

With the offensive line play of Barbe, Any D1 QB would of been dragging arse at half time. Can't blame Fontenot's size on that
