I read a story about this kid and how Arky didn't offer a scholly. Rumors were that he wasn't going to qualify and he and his coach swore up and down that wasn't the case. Looks like there was reason for fat arse not to offer after all.

Arky knew grades were such an issue they didn't even offer. Bama HAD to know this was a risk.
Yes, this puts Mathis into a higher priority status for Bama, but they had to take that into account long ago. Bottom line: Mathis may have already seen Bama's best efforts at recruiting him. Their only DL signee is Isaiah Biggs .
