Sounds like LSU might go 26 this year with 1 counting against 2012 class...and assuming all the guys committed stick, here is my positional breakdown for next 10 (and yes, I can count and am over by 1 I know).

1 RB, 1 WR, 1 OL, 1 TE, 3 DL, 1 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 K Don't know who I would drop...with LSU's secondary taking a transfer hit and also expected next year's early NFL entrants from S/CB, hard to cut a secondary guy. Wait, I've got it, since the recruiting services say kickers are worthless, we don't need to get the Colorado kid who has been offered. LSU should take the Lou Holtz approach and say kickers don't deserve scholarships and just have them walk on. How did that work out for you, Lou?

...was that whole thing a setup for a Lou Holtz kicker joke?

ETA: 337, unless we take several next year we need one this year.

With the New Iberia Kid walking on, I don't see us taking a kicker unless its one of the top few in the country.

Sounds like Adam Taylor has an OFFER IF he has recovered from his injury as a JR. But the LSU staff is smart and thinking like you are. They offered very few RBs and if they couldn't get 1 of the 3 or 4, they are going to forget it. Having said that, I don't feel incredible comfortable with 1 last year and I think we all know Jeremy Hill's history and then go this year without taking anyone. I'm not that big of a gambler...2 years with 1 total RB and he had a serious off the field issue.

Carlson from Colorado has/had (Auburn's is probably gone now with a K committed) 4 offers which is a lot for a kicker...LSU, Auburn, Air Force, California.

I do think we take 10 more kids. (26) and I'm also for taking no RBs in this class... especially since we need to have that sales pitch for Fournette! "didn't take any RBs last year and Bama took 2 or 3"

One of his last year's at S Carolina (maybe his last), I was vacationing in the Carolina's during football season and Holtz was getting blasted on the talk shows. USC couldn't punt, couldn't kick FGs, and the point was being made about 1057 times in a 3 hour show that "Well Holtz doesn't offer scholarships for kickers so here is what happens when you do that. You lose games by missing multiple FGs and have these punters kick about equal to high school guys. Then you wonder why USC loses all these games."

We already have Adam thinking he has a scholarship we need to honor it and take his commitment the kid is a beast.

So Hill has straightened up (no pun intended) and also won't get hurt. I can see that but I'm looking after 2012 season. Hilliard looks fine to me but Ware will be a draftable JR and Blue also. Ford I don't think would be drafted early even if he wanted to be. Anyway, banking a lot on Hill...1 RB in 2 years is definitely a gamble.

Prevots spot may go to Taylor if we take a RB pending something like this happens.

TE Smith
2 DE WIlliams/ Prevot
2 SDE/DT Gilmore and another unless Lawson is enough
ILB Jones
OLB Beckwith
2 DBs Robinson and Jefferson WR

Any thoughts?

Two defensive backs are leaving LSU i think it was Gibson and Jenkins? I wonder if this is Les telling them they wont play much giving him an opportunity to have 2 extra scholarships available? It is being reported today for sure they are no longer at LSU.

I haven't seen Nkemdiche's film but I have seen Prevot's and I wanted him badly for LSU when he had 1 offer. That guy is way, way underrrated. He is a 5* guy, so I hope LSU gets him. I would hope LSU would get another OL which could be Lawson who is already committed. Then, you could take another DL to replace him. Your list is pretty much the chalk list which is fine...still no RB though. Personally, I'm not a 2 TE guy since LSU each year signs at least one TE and for the life of me, they seem to be wasted scholarships. They even move guys to TE from WR and DL and STILL can't play. And with questionable QB play, I have to say that Jefferson and Lee got 0 help from the TE position.

Yeah, and it was 3 secondary guys...Jenkins, Gibson, and Vinson. LSU always seems to oversign at S/DB...well that has been taken care of. LSU should be fine on the 85 limit with all the departures but you can still only sign 25 + any unfilled from previous year if they enroll early. The problem I don't think is the 85...the limiting factor is the yearly count.

Miles,

Pretty sure something is going to happen with the current TE. he was offered and drove to LSU the next day. Then committed on the spot. If we get Smith something may change here.

I'll take your word on that but how about the Logan Stokes guy? Talk about someone that everybody had to look up. The services don't like the guy but the Rivals' voters surely do. They seem to have a pretty good record, but I hope the LSU fans didn't stack the deck for the guy. And he is a JUCO too, which is not my favorite type of guy in general.

I know who he is but really don't look at guys much who WILL be juniors. But yeah, the video I saw he definitely is the real deal. 3 points:
1) is he a lock for LSU?
2) will he stay healthy?
3) will he qualify academically?

If all 3 are Yes's in foresight, then he is definitely the guy you want. Having said that, Hill's episode was a shocker to everyone and caused him to delay enrollment a year. NOT saying that will occur to Fournette, but then again, no one predicted a problem for Hill either.

Yea, i knew about vinson but its a shame that jenkins is leaving he was suppose to be pretty close in talent to jalen. But, i must tell you im almost positive that they are trying to shuffle things around to make room for other players. I don't know the rules on the 85 or the 25 in one class but i think we can take more then 25. I have heard a lot of different numbers, i would love to hear the real number on the max number of players we can take whether they enroll early, on time, or late. I would guess its in the 26-28 range with three more scholarship players leaving and making room for more DB'S.
