If this was 2008, Landry would be a 5 star on Rivals. I think they had about six 5 star WR's that year, and it seemed like 50 of them in their Top 250. Granted, all of those 5 star guys have ended up being really good player. But if you were 6'2" and could run a little bit that year, you were a 4 star WR.

hillard did break the state rushing record. And we have had some damn good backs come out of this state.

So that alone should tell you he is a "great" running back without ever seeing a reel of film.

successful guys don't translate to the "next" level all the time

Too many people sell Hilliard too short on this board. I think he is going to be a great north/south runner. People need to realize him for what he is and not what they want him to be. He is never going to be a game breaking back. Plenty of room in the SEC for a guy who can punish defenses and get the majority of his yards in the 4th quarter.

I think most of us that posted in this thread about Hilliard are not saying that he isn't going to be a good back justcommenting on the reviews he's getting at the Army practices. He is showing what most of have known all along, that he is a power, load carrying, downhill back.I doubt most of us really expect him to be anything more than that.It just appears that evidently the Rivals people were expecting something else. Some of the things I've read make it sound like they actually expected to see a Joseph Addai type back that's supposed to be a fluid, smooth route runner and create mismatches in the passing game.Either they aren't very good at evaluating or they expect to much. He's not that type of back.I saw one quote that was talking about Herscel Sims and his ability in the passing game(actually what a lot of people liked about him all along)and at the end something like "conversely Kenny Hilliard has shown to be strictly a downhill runner".Who were they expecting,Marshall Faulk?

they have to say something. Not all backs are asked to do it all. Kenny will do fine at LSU.

Totally agree. He isn't the sleekest and "sexiest" but think he will be a solid performer at LSU. Probably get early playing time IMO.
