re: Any news on Deion Smith coming back?

If you enter the portal, aren't you automatically giving up your scholarship at that point since you left the team? I thought he would be paying his own way now anyway. So what's the argument? He either comes off the the portal and plays for LSU in the spring, or he pays his own way in the spring and transfers to another school in good standing. Some people on here act like these student athletes can't get a student loan for a semester or something.
