I don’t know. Are you saying you know more than an “Executive” producer of a tv show? I didn’t think so.

Any of you guys ever speak directly to Hootie? McCartey? Spend time with Diarses's dad who was Hootie's ride to every camp? Have sources in the Bama coaching staff? Sources in every SEC coaching staff? Did you ever give Jimmy his first internship in this business? Did Laura Rutledge ever work for you when she was making her name in recruiting? Well I did all these things.

There are a lot of things that are said publicly, which are not always true. Vol has very good knowledge, but so do others.

I always interpreted Hootie's actions as a role to get us in trouble with the early financial aid agreement signature.

Flashback: Recruit could sign early FA agreement with schools (intentionally plural) and school had unlimited contact. However, if recruit did not attend a school that used that in dead or non-contact period then violations were retroactive.

Flashback: Hootie "put out word" that he wanted LSU to call him and that he decommitted from Bama. It was a no contact period. The question was, why didn't he initiate contact... which would have incurred no violations.

Flashback: Same thing happened with Matt Womack. We contacted during same period, he attended Bama, we got dinged for impermissible contact.

Sounds like there is agreement on what happened only a disagreement on intent.

The difference being Hottie really wanting in LSU’s class vs Saban getting Hootie to intentionally mislead LSU staff.

So what do you know about this year's class and the remaining spots that are open?

ETA: And hook a man up with Laura Rutledge.

You could be right about much of that i dont really know the ins and outs of the whys just know what happened. Our violation due to womack was technically an impermissable contact violation but it occurred in the first year of that particular finacial aid agreement rule so Les got blindsided by a bad rule.

That first year head coaches were allowed an early in home period with kids they intended to sign financial aid agreements early. Les made is in home visit with the Womacks which was perfectly legal at the time of the visit. Womack did sign financial papers but kids arent locked in with those so when Womack flipped, also perfectly legal, retroactively Les' visit became a violation due to impermissable contact. It was a horseshite oversite by the rule makers and we got bit by it. Think it actually cost us a scholarship. Not completely sure about the punishment though.

ree, can we make a bet? If sophser comes here I’ll never bash you again.. but if he goes elsewhere, can you never post on the recruiting board again? It’s fun joking with other guys, but you are the most ignorant LSU fan

Im with Penguin, double down. Ill do the same bet. Its been smoke and mirrors from the start. This is playing out exactly like all the others that spurn LSU for Bama from Louisiana - keeps our big board in disarray and wastes resources - those on this board who still worship Saban should enjoy praising him for advanced warfare.

The only way Sopsher comes to LSU is if Bama somehow doesnt cheat to make numbers works and leaves him at the altar in the final hour....

No tangible proof, but just as I did when I was a child, I only had to experience the feeling of wind once before I knew the wind was blowing again, and I couldnt intellectually explain it for years.

Can you blame them? They've had grownups asking them the same lame questions about where they're going since they were probably 15.

I'm in my 40s and would probably start messing with people if everywhere I went someone was asking me where I was going to go to school.

To each his own. If it were me, I would either commit early, act like a leader and try to recruit others by setting an example, or string Saban along, gather inside intel, and screw him over royally on signing day. So Im part vindictive a-hole, part leader, but not an attention whore

This is exactly what Ree was referring to. I guarantee you have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever about Sopsher's desires or intentions. You, like too many "fans" on here, just make it up in your head and speak it as if it was true. Then you vilify players because you think they will not choose as you deem they should.

Experience yields anticipated results. How is he vilifying Sopsher? Are you always overly dramatic? He is simply stating that he theorizes that Sopsher wants to play with his brother, got the offer from LSU and didnt jump on it because he is waiting for the same offer where he really wants to go - Bama. That isnt characterizing him as a villian, just guessing at his true intentions. We will have empirical proof either way in less than a fortnight.

You do realize that Sopsher will not attend LSU just because anon message board users knight for him, in the same way that he wont chose Bama because LSU fans are meanies.

And in some crazy scenario where that was even possible, that special recruit would have the emotional stability and reasoning of a toddler to make a life decision on such faulty foundation that his decision making would deter me from being optimistic of his future career regardless of his choice....

morons relentlessly bash him?

Very few are truly bashing the kid. Almost everyone is guessing where this kids head is at, whether he is playing chess or checkers, whether he wants to join the rebellion or the evil empire (you seem more like a Harry Potter guy - does he want to join Voldemort or be in Dumbledores army). Regardless, everyone doesnt like the barber/Sam Petito/Sopshers dad connection and the ones "bashing" are picking on the handlers, and for lack of a better word, adults.

Also, those of us that have been at this since before your time (Era of Coach O) have seen songs and dances like his before and are trying to predict what his methodology is - just like everyone else, but without the blind optimism. Preparing for the worst, while hoping for the best doesnt make you a moron, cruel or an Ish basher.

Separately, there are a number of people (myself included) who question this kids work ethic based on many, many first hand anecdotal reports. Experts and laymen alike seem to notice he takes plays off, has poor technique and wonder whether he has only relied on talent thus far, whether or not he is coachable, etc. That is not sour grapes, its just honesty and non-idolization from the kids that you enjoy watching.

We wonder if the above statement is true (based on many different reports) whether it is worth taking not only Sopsher, but also his brother (who universally is questioned whether he would play a meaningful down, and would only be given an offer because of his brother). And now that the rules have changed, the 25 that we take this year mean that much more since we can only have 100 including transfers every four years regardless of the 85 overall scholarships

I heard Les Miles on a live phone call.
Does that give me any points?

I remember when people said he was fake. Pretty sure Les Miles don’t give his personal number to fakes.
Thanks dmitch

Does anyone know the exact count of Amite kids that spurned LSU? That WR for Bama is the only real talent to come out of that area in quite a while.............I’m talking Amite HS specifically.......

Y’all know Trey Palmer is from the area and signed right?

Devonta Smith is the entire list from Amite. The only other one even from that area was Shyheim Carter from Kentwood.
