A big change is coming to the All-American Bowl. Starting in 2025, juniors will be able to participate in the nation’s premier high school sporting event. That means the top prospects from the class of 2026 will get a chance to suit up alongside some of the top prospects in the class of 2025.

quote:

Given the changing landscape at the collegiate level, our senior participants are graduating high school earlier and enrolling in and attending college as early as December. As a result, the All-American Bowl is pivoting to now include top juniors for the upcoming 2025 All-American Bowl,” said Jon Miller, President, Acquisitions and Partnerships of NBC Sports, owner-operator of the event. “This change will allow more top juniors to make their college declarations on network television.” For the past two decades, the All-American Bowl has served as a showcase for top seniors, but with recruits starting college earlier and earlier, some of the nation’s top talent has started to opt out of the week-long event to instead participate in bowl practices. That trend is expected to only keep growing with the College Football Playoff expanding to a 12-team field this upcoming season.

quote:

"With the two national championship teams encouraging early enrollees to travel with them, it left us scrambling for equally talented replacements as late as the week of the actual game," said Erik Richards, National Recruiting Director for the AAB on NBC. "This is a way to bring on some of the top juniors and see how they measure up on the field against the class in front of them. All while boosting their stock & NIL value before signing a LOI."

quote:

The introduction of juniors to the game should also recreate plenty of recruiting buzz. The All-American Bowl has had a number of high-profile announcements over the years, but with over 70 percent of the Top247 committed before they start their senior seasons, there hasn't been as much drama as of late.

Louisiana has a loaded 2025 and 2026 class gonna be incredible to potentially see bunch of those guys on the field together

Dumb.

What’s so wrong with people having to wait their turn for something?

It’s not even about that it’s about the money

They want more eyeballs on their product

How many high school juniors have names big enough to bring eyeballs?

So juniors in high school are going to bring the ratings up?

They should do a JV game too, with Freshmen and Sophs, that would really get the money flowing in.

Sounds more like it’s a dying product and they’re doing anything to field a game.

It’s not gonna be a full roster of juniors

They’re just cherry picking to fill roster spots so it will be the best of the best

And you can’t think of many juniors that would have generated a huge showing this past AAG?

Imagine if Bryce Underwood committed to LSU at this past AAG would you have tuned in?

Since we have like 30 all American games now it’s probably getting hard to fill rosters.

Seems like this is to give the reclassifying juniors a chance to participate before college.

They should have a senior and a junior game. Best way to capitalize on more money.

Exactly. Bryce throwing a swing pass the Harlem at the AA Bowl would have the board in a frenzy.

Smart move to try and keep this game alive

They're doing this because back then before the early signing periods you would have like 15 announcements during the game from Seniors. Majority of people would watch the game just for the kids decision and not care about the game at all, but now almost all the kids are already signed or committed and nobody watches anymore. Bringing in like the top 15-20 JR's could possibly bring back viewers just to see them pick a hat. I can't speak for others on this board but in 2008 I was locked in when Patrick Peterson decommited from Miami and told everybody He wasn't going to LSU because of Miles to Michigan rumors and then during the game picks the tiger hat.

That’s the THIS, once you start increasing the number of games, talent spreads product become watered down- look what it did to College Bowl Season.
I personally cannot wait to see
Eastern Michigan vs Miami(Ohio) in the Baked Cheetos Bowl next year. I’m familiarizing myself with the rosters while we speak.
