While I agree to a extent with what you said, as I still remember that d-line Tenn had. But to say LSU will never have as much talent as that is ludicrous.
I didn't like the Chavis hire at first because I've seen some boneheaded shite hes done over the years but I eventually warmed up to it. Makes me feel a lot better he had such a highly rated defense on a absolutely HORRIBLE offensive team last year. Constantly were in bad positions and constantly on the field, yet still rated high.
I was under the impression he was far past his prime as DC until last year's defense.
Those numbers are so out of whack it is hilarious.
But our D did play their asses off, especially knowing that the offense was going to give them ZERO help.
We played 8 of the worst offenses in the country last year and most of the SEC teams took their foot off the gas early after they got a lead, because they knew the only way we would beat them is if they screwed up and handed our D the ball.
rank of the offenses we played:
UCLA - 111
Auburn - 104
Northern Ill - 83
Miss St. - 113
South Carolina - 97
Wyoming - 108
Vandy - 117
UK - 106

I don't know, I saw some pretty good defensive games from Tenn last year. Had a lot to do with headhunter Berry but still...

Since when did this thread go from Anthony Johnson to Chiefs lack of recruiting to defensive philosophy talk?
Posted on 5/8/09 at 8:00 pm to ole orange
some fig named Ole Orange turned the talk to Chavis halfway through. Monte Kiffin will be dead by the time Johnson is in college though, so it doesn't really matter.

i think it is too early to throw all your eggs in one basket for a 2011 player.
LSU has to focus mainly on this next recruiting year. Only so much can be done with this guy, with players to focus on this year.
It's a long way away. I think a)5 star talk is pre mature and b)from what i hear he will have to work on his grades
This is a case of recruitniks freaking out and overreacting. Yes, he is a hot name. Yes, he is a big mean looking black kid with a mohawk. Yes, he looks 25 years old. But He hasnt played a game in even his JR year yet. Chill out fellas.

Mile's just had the number 1 class for crying out loud. And some of you guys think the staff is lazy and needs to be re-evaluated? What a bunch of tards.

While he looks to be one of the top players in the state in 2011, that doesn't mean that he wants to go to LSU. IMO I would rather him commit to the Vols early, rather than string it out and commit to the Vols the day after National Signing Day.

The kid is 6-2 294 lbs and 15 years old (unless he just turned 16). This one really hurts. 2011 in LA is loaded with talent and Anthony Johnson will be a big time player. Orgeron is working those LA roots right now. Pulling J. Jackson, R. Broussard, now A. Johnson. Im worried more about Orgeron than Saban to be honest.
But, its still early and AJ has nearly 2 years to be recruited before his signing day. I cant doubt the recruiting by our coaches who brought in one of the top classes in the country.
Just because someone is trying to sell you something doesnt mean you have to bye it. It also doesnt mean the seller is doing anything wrong. You might just feel like you can get a better deal somewhere else.

Long way to go before signing day
Id be surprised if this kids recruitment was as simple as this

pretty much
Watch out for Hillard as well, buzz is that if we offer we've got a great shot at getting him.

I didn't realize Kenny Hilliard's father was also a coach at the FCS level who wanted a better job.

I'm not trying to get in a pissing match, just filling you in on what is being said in Vol country.
Wilson is supposed to be going to his school soon, hopefully to get some updated film.
