Not saying it can't happen, but these flips to a school that a recruit hasn't visited or had little connection with until this late just because of a coaching change rarely materialize. It is much more common for the guy to flip to whoever is second in line, which would be UT if they are still interested.

Considering that this kid is an EE, this is a tough spot for him. I hate he has been left in limbo by all of this. UT could potentially pass on him if he was a package deal with Phillips. They already have his commit and he is also an EE. If Amadi was also package deal bait for LSU, they may have cooled on him, as well (just hypothetical. We may still be pushing to get him). It sounds like A&M is genuinely interested, but it is 11:59 and clock is running out fast. Should be an interesting finish.

He wasn't listed on 247 as having an offer when I looked last week. Did he earlier in the process? Has he ever visited there or had any meaningful contact? It didn't look like it from what I saw there. His primary interested were LSU, UT, and Ole Miss.

How can they flip him if it us a dead period right now? How are they communicating and selling him on A&M

Chavis he doesn't know if Chavis wont leave before he finishes

Since 1989 Chavis has only been at 3 schools, with A&M being one of them. He is as likely (or more) likely to retire before jumping again.

A&M is scrambling to find a CB since they missed out on Kendall Sheffield. Probably too little, too late on Amadi.

This. There is also a perception that they slow played Boyd and Hill b/c Sheffield made A&M think he was going there.

I thought with the dead period the coaches could not contact the recruits, is that right?
So that would mean Amadi has been reaching out to them?

Social media pretty much makes the dead period useless

IIRC, no face to face. Kid can still have calls and visit (without a meeting).

they can still call

Rule:
What is a dead period?

LINK
During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.
