A down year in Louisiana gave LSU a top 10 class

Kelly also put up the fence around the state in this class. We can potentially sign 9 out of the top 10 players in the state. This is when the national media tried to push Kelly not fitting in.

Now fill it in with this 25 class.

If we lock up the state in the '26 class and do our usual work out of state, I don't see how we don't finish with the #1 overall class.

The next two should be our icing on this future cake we making. Might come at a very good time as well. We’ll need some impact 5* talent and we should have that in the next two classes. I think we’re still 2-3 years away from winning a championship or competing for one consistently but we should still be able to make a run, scare some people and knock off a few making a run.

The offense is there, just need to fix this defense somehow. Hopefully the portal and the next few classes get us back where we should be. I think it’ll happen, just not as quick as some think. Need some darn DLman and those DBs we have gotten used to having here at LSU. Need to get back to that nasty, fast and furious defense we typically have.

Trust BK when he says year 3. He's had his eye on 2024 being the year we are ready to compete for a title again. The two big questions remain will the defense be fixed and how will Nuss perform?

I hate to break it to you but as long as Alabama and Georgia are still playing football, LSU isn’t getting the number one class. LSU might get better players but they will be ranked lower than those signed by the other schools. The bias is real.

Such loser talk. Uga didn’t get good at recruiting until Kirby showed up recently. BK just needs to turn on the jets and open the check book up

What the poster is saying is that the recruiting sites will always rate UGA and Bama commits higher on average.

We don’t really have “down” years. That’s just what we call years when the recruiting services undervalue LA players.

Guys at 247 and On3 even admit this. They will “re-evaluate” players that certain programs offer and sign. It’s just not because of a conspiracy like some here make it out to be. They just trust the evaluations of a small number of coaches and programs enough to look again, or just auto raise their score.

Personally, I think it shows some laziness on their parts and some holes in the system they love to tout. My only gripe about the services doing this is that they talk so much shite about how accurate they are and how good they are at predicting future draft success. If they are that good and charge what they charge, they shouldn’t have to piggyback on which coaches offer a player and should be capable of standing on their own. And if they do have to rely on what coaches do, then they need to come down off the high horse.

There will always be variations in the level from year to year. What’s crazy is that this “down” year in LA is still far better than the output of most states and the entire region of New England.

I’m not sure if you just started watching college football but UGA never was in contention for top 2 classes before 2017/2018

Y’all have such selective memory

if they were that good at evaluating talent then a football team would scoop them up

The only 5 star player and number 1 player in Louisiana is going to Texas A&M.

Out of state schools will be more than happy to pluck the very best from Louisiana.

Yes this x1000000

Idk if they are misses by recruiting sites or just that these guys are not camping or going to international camps they just go to lsu & Louisiana camps.. which is great just doesn’t have the guys from FL and GA present to compare…

No matter what the recruiting rankings are top 15 are a take year in and year out

What players were Alabama and Georgia actively pursuing in this years class from Lousiana? Seemed pretty quiet this year and didn’t seem like they were trying to flip anyone late like normal.

These kinds of eval bumps follow that staffs the heavily prioritize recruiting and have head coaches who’s opinions on players they respect. It’s been Bama for years, but Ohio St and UGA have proven themselves in that tier over the last 5+ years, as well.

Clemson was there for a bit, but they’ve fallen out by not replacing staff well or embracing the portal. I think Texas is about to make the jump into this group if they continue to have success.

If he ends up there, it isn’t a huge loss. He’s rating based completely on measurables and production.
