Chris Hawkins ran a 4.3? In high school... I think it's the weight that slows them down

I ran 4.51 in high school hand timed. Once I ran with an electronic timer, I slipped to 4.58

What kills him in the 100 is he doesn't have the upper body strength

Fail.

It's so technical, the amount of strides is what has Trindon at a disadvantage. His turnover is as fast or faster than other runners, but he has to take an extra 1.5 strides per 100m because of his hieght compared to a taller runner like Bolt who is much taller.

Upper body is important from a stregnth stndpnt, but I think TH has decent stregnth for his weight.

Yeah, it only counts when his friend isn't timing.

Here's what I posted "keep in mind that they are NOT running on a track like some of these sub-4.5 times are. It makes a difference when you are talking tenths of a second.
The "track" at the combines are line a playing surface.
Trindon has great take-off speed out of the blocks. What kills him in the 100 is he doesn't have the upper body strength and he has to use WAY more energy b/c of his stride. Dude is AMAZING at what he can do given his "shortcomings". "
See the second part of that sentence. I disagree with upper body strength not playing a key part even at his size. It is not always about what you bench, etc. there are way more muscles that play a part that are not about bench pressing, including the shoulders.
I look at Tyson Gay and he is not much taller than trindon, but his chest and shoulders are huge. That was my point. Obviously, his stride is a huge disavantage as I pointed out.

A study was done on Usain Bolt's 9.58 WR 100m run that showed his first 40 yards was complete in 4.28 seconds. Keep that in mind when hearing about all these insane times coming out of high school.

my college roommate ran a 10 flat 100 in 9th grade at Lake Charles High, long ago. He had lost a step by the time he was a freshman in college. He wasnt even in the top few in our ROTC track meet in the spring.

Also, people get the heck beat out of them in 4 years.
A lot of terrific recent RBs at LSU had injuries. It makes me aware of what a dangerous sport it is. I think this was a factor in changing the LSU RB substitution pattern a few years ago, as we were depending on someone who would get beat up and then we had nothing ready.

I believe this is true. If you saw TH in the World Championships he was as good as it gets out of the blocks, technically sound through 70-80m then because he wasnt quite as mature upper body as the rest of the field he loses. Hes prolly one of the best over 60m in the world.

That also includes reaction times though, so from when he starts running it's probably more like a 4.15

So you don't think Sam Montgomery runs a 4.4?

I saw him play twice last year. He is not that fast. I'm thinking realistically a high 4.5 or low 4.6.

The kid seems to be versatile for his size. Who knows what position he will be playing?

Yards versus meters is a huge difference.
